I wouldn't listen to your OB's nurse practioner. She obviously does not have the knowledge and she shouldn't be giving medical advice. I'm happy that you were able to see an RE today and hope that you will have some answers soon. One word of caution, if they want to do a hysteroscopy to diagnose you, make sure that they will not attempt to correct AS if that's what you have. Also I agree with that the things you read about AS can be scarier than they are. I remember how devasted I was to find out that I had severe AS and was told that my chances weren't exactly 0 of conceiving, but close. I just had my second surgery with an A-list doctor and my uterine cavity has been restored to a normal shape and size. Please start with the best if you possibly can. I know it is very hard to be patient in the beginning but the wait is so worth the correct treatment. Is it possible for you to find another OB who will give you a recommendation to see an RE? Also a GP gould also give you a recommendation too to help with your insurance. Most people who fight their insurance companies do eventually win. I think I've figured out the insurance thing for now. When I saw a maternal fetal specialist before they required a diagnosis code from my referring ob. I thought this would be a problem since my ob isn't referring me this time, but when I called my PCP today they didn't ask for that. So hopefully that would also be the case when I see an A list doc. I'm trying to learn where everyone is located, but a little overwhelmed by all the postings. Do you mind telling my where you're located and which doctor you saw? Thanks for your help! Guest guest Posted July 12, 2004 Report Share Posted July 12, 2004 Hi , An increase in seizures when they are in full ketosis is more often than not due to med toxicity, the AED strength can take a hike up even if not reflected in blood levels. Sometimes a reduction is required before things improve. If he is not on meds, then perhaps his ketones are too high fullstop, which again, can result in a kind of toxicity, or can lead to metabolic acidosis, or - he may have some previously undiagnosed metabolic problem that does not react well to being in ketosis - this is very rare though and would normally have been picked up prior to starting the diet.
