Cognitive Dysfunction

Known by lupus patients as "brain fog"'! Symptoms include confusion, profound fatigue, and difficulty in articulating thoughts, memory impairment and difficulty concentrating. Cognitive dysfunction may come and go on its own, but antimalarial drugs, tricyclic antidepressants or serotonin blockers, or DHEA may help.

Hi Athena,

I copied the above information from 's Website.....I suggest you and Kasandra take a look at the site together.......You will find many of your questions answered before you even ask........

Brain Fog is very common in Lupus patients.....we tend to joke about it a lot....but it can be very frustrating and scarey.Especially when you have been newly diagnosed.

I used to have a good Lupus support group at a hospital when I was first dxed. There was a Dr. moderating it and the group was pretty big. I went every week. Education is the key to deflect fear! About memory problems. One girl there said one night that she couldn't remember how she got to the group that night. She couldn't remember driving there or where she parked her car. She was sure she drove because she always does.
