Goodness, must have a look back myself some time at my old posts about

's previous dramas, I guess there are a few floating round....Over three

years with practically every known side effect hitting - er yep, plenty to write

about there :)

Wonder if my very first one is still there about when he went toxic the

second/third week on the diet and lost seizure control - I remember it like it

was yesterday, more's the pity....ugh.

So when do you plan to start the carnitine? Are you going to use the carnitor

brand? We couldn't get that here, but it seems to be what most folk use. Who

will be advising you on dosage, and how and when to increment it up? Your neuro?

I so hope it is 's answer and that he doesn't have an adverse reaction,

but at least you are prepared for what to watch for. Good luck, and let me know

if that paper worked on my second attempt at sending it this morn, cos if not -

I'll have to try it as an attachment maybe,

Hi -

Glad to hear that 's follow up appt. was

relatively uneventful in that his blood work suggested

no need to make changes in anything. I don't blame

you one bit for not rocking-the-boat by adding a

supplementation. I'm sure is thoroughly

enjoying his seizure free days and even if he is

deficient in Carnitine/Zinc - if the only " possible "

side affect is slow growth - then really " who cares "

as long as you have the seizure free status. I

believe I've read numerous articles relating the diet

to slow growth but they've also suggested once off the

diet kids tend to catch up to where they'd otherwise

be relatively quickly.

You know, I bet you feel so blessed that by looking

back at everything has been thru ( I swear, the

kid has had every possible negative side affect

associated w/the diet and more)that now he is seizure

free and doing so well. Recently, I've done some

searching thru the archives for info. and stopped to

read some of your earlier posts of . You all

must have good genes in your family (and faith) for

him to have had the strength to overcome his life

threatening experiences. Perhaps, someday, your

family will write a book detailing your experiences

and how you triumphed. It would be extremely

beneficial to other families on the diet who encounter

similar things. Not to mention, the wealth of

knowledge you possess given your first hand

experiences. Even Dr. Freeman, in my opinion,

couldn't provide the info. that you have. Oh well....

enough babble.

In regards to - I will take your advice.

Almost lowered his calories/protein this morning

thinking that was " an answer " but will hold off until

we try the supplement which we have decioded to do. He's

too symptomatic not to give it a whirl. Perhaps, too,

the carn deficiency might be an answer as to why his

cholesterol levels came back so LOW. If he truly

isn't metabolising the fat the way he should be. Also

could be a reason for his recent 1 lb. weight gain.

Makes sense so we will see.
