Guest guest
Same thing happened to one of our catfish that happened to your koi. We saw a great blue heron down at the pond with a big catfish at it's feet. It was obvious to us the fish was to big for the bird to eat so we watched for a while. Wish we could have seen the bird catch the fish but we didn't. Finely after several minutes the bird gave up on the idea of eating the fish and flew away. We went down to the pond, you can see it from the house, and saw a hole on the top side of the catfish but the fish wasn't dead yet. We threw it back in, don't know if it lived or not. We never found it floating so who knows. Sorry about the your pump . Good thing you noticed it wasn't working, you could have lost more that one fish. It must be hard being so sun sensitive living here in Florida. I'm lucky the sun don't bother me much. I just burn real easy. Here in Crestview it's 66° right now but it was cold this morning......41° and tonight it's supposed to go down to mid 30's. We have frost warnings for tonight again. Winter just don't want to loosen it grip! ugh Hope the rest of your day goes better than it started out! Hugs.... Karol Here in Florida Here in Orlando, the weather is really pretty .. sunny though. REAL sunny and about 70 degrees. I went out to feed the koi in the pond and found one dead one .. looked like it got speared!I believe a heron tried to take a koi lunch and must have gotten scared off by the dogs. Oh well .. chalk one up for the food chain. Then I realized .. after standing and staring at the pond for almost 5 minutes .. that something else didn't look right. The dang pump wasn’t working.. so I had to get in the pond .. and drag out the pump and filter. Seems the intake hose got clogged with something (not sure .. looked like left over frog.. yuck) .. but it caused the pump to burn out. So now that I am itching all over from the sun (and yes I had on sunscreen AND a hat).. I need to get out to the pet store and buy another one. Grrrrrr.. dang frog.. So I hope everyone is doing ok .. I have pet store, Walgreens for prescriptions, clean pool, and doctor appointment on my "to do" list today.. does anyone know if I am forgetting something?? 'cause man .. I sure don't. I got heavy brain fog today .. which reminds me ... BRB...sighs.. almost forgot to turn off the garden hose .. was putting water in the pool .. I was going to clean it out this morning .. but now it will have to wait until late afternoon when the sun goes down behind the trees. Gosh .. lupus sure does put a kink in the chain of events in your life, doesn't it? I could have been done with all my chores .. but for shortness of breath and dealing with dodging the sun.Oh well.. off like a herd of turtles .. huggles ..
