Guest guest
Greetings Fellow Lupies, I just had to jump in with my two cents worth about SNAKES..... When my #2 son was growing up.....he was always fascinated with snakes, and all manner of creepy, crawly critters. I can't count the times I checked the pockets of his jeans, before putting them into the washer, to come up with a handful of pill bug, earthworms, and one time even a buzzing cicada!.....I finally learned to hold his jeans upside down, and shake them real good instead of reaching into his pockets. One time when I was working night shift and got home around 2:am......I walked into the hall bathroom first thing, flipped on the light......and there was a small king snake about 12 inches long curled around the toilet.......I screamed,"SCOTT!" ......Damn it!"....and ran to the other bathroon off my bedroom, flicked on the light.....and in the bathtub sat a terrarium....that I kept in my bedroom with plants ......with 3 more baby king snakes!......I let out another,"SCOTT.......DAMN IT!!'...Then after I changed my pants, I pulled that boy out of bed.......and made him get all his critters out of the house while I sat on the dining room table.!! Raising this child .....I have found : A bullfrog in the toilet tank, A kingsnake in his lunch pail, A horned toad in his ball cap......."My pockets were full of crickets....I couldn't put him there....could I?"..... A litter of pink baby mice in his underwear drawer......"They were cold, Mama!" And of course there was always a baby bird in a nest in his bedroom.....this was allowed, though.....and he rescued many baby birds from predators when they were just fledgelings just learning to fly. I got him a special CRITTER cage to put his critters in.....as there just was no stopping him from bringing `Something' home .....but at least the critter cage had a top on it to keep them safely in place......and to keep me from killing the boy!! Guest guest
cheryl, You are indeed a brave soul.....I would only let my son keep his "creepy crawleys" in the house in his critter cage for a few days to study them.....then he had to release them back to the wild.
