Joanne, you are absolutely welcome to vent whenever you need to do so.

That's one of the reasons we are here for you.

It is so totally normal for you to have mood swings with prednisone. My

husband would be afraid whenever I would start laughing too much. Why?

Because it would normally go into histeria and I would cry for an hour after

laughing for a few minutes. Then there was the other reaction. I wouldn't

stop running my mouth, a thousand words a second, like I couldn't shut up.

The minute we were in bed and the lights were off and my hubby would try and

cuddle, I would start crying and would spend half the night doing so. There

was a point when he was afraid to touch me because he wanted to spare me the

tears.

I don't know what else to tell you. Prednisone helped me. It's a nasty

medication but it helps although you can't stand it. Forcing yourself into

staying on low dosages when you really need to increase may cause a flare.

It's what you call choosing the lesser evil, isn't it. I can understand why

you don't want to increase. I've done it myself a few times, but it wasn't

worth it. I would just get worse and learned this lesson the hard way. Yeah,

some aches and pains when you're loweing is fine, but they should pass in a

few days when you get used to the new lower dosage. If you don't that means

you really need more.

Talk it over with your doctor. See what he tells you. I have never been

offered another medication iinstead of prednisone, but I believe some of the

members have had that option and maybe they'll be more help. Otherwise jusst

talk it over with your doc. If you need the higher dose, I would suggest you

take it. Don't frustrate yourself with your mood swings, just make sure

people you share your life with understand where it's all coming from. I

could tell you stories of the things I would do. My hubby wouldn't recognize

the house on his return from work. The adrenaline was too much for me and I

had to " do " things. He was worried, because I was wearing myself out, but he

understood.

Take it easy and if you need to vent, cry, complain, dump some of those

extra hormones prednisone gives you, we're here for you.
