Guest guest
He was just taken off the Depakote two days ago. I am praying this is why is is seizing more. > Cold turkeying from 750 mgs of depakote would I think definitely be a prime suspect for increased seizures - whether the AED was actually effective or not, withdrawal seizures from an addiction/blood level point of view would be highly likely. Some kiddies can get away with this kind of rapid wean, others not. I know my son would never have coped seizure wise with that sort of big drug change, but they are all different. > Depending on when it was withdrawn, any seizures that are withdrawal related could take a week to 2 weeks (sometimes longer) to settle down. If they don't, or if the seizures get out of hand (status can be a nasty problem when withdrawing AEDs too fast) you may have to try something to intervene to break the cycle, or put some depakote back and try a slower wean. > Hopefully the diet/ketosis will act as a protective measure, and being able to stop the med all at once would be a huge bonus, but don't be too disappointed if you aren't able to wean it all in one go first time round. > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: dreamerofluna > > > > He has been doing better last night and today with the eating.
