Guest guest
This does help very much!! I feel inadequate in some ways with the diet since I do not have the 1st clue or resources to create a meal plan for Noah- just go by the meals we were 1st given (and there are over 30 of them, so there's plenty!!) Of course, my child is the type that only likes about 4 or 5 different meals, so we're safe with that! And, he has been seizure-free since leaving the hospital, so we are safe with sticking how we have " always done things. " Our dietician is great with emailing or faxing recipes if I'd like different ones as well. But, I appreciate your info very much, Cammie. Thank you! I made the first 20 during initiation--10 with the help of our dietician and 10 by myself, then checked by her. has been seizure free since the day before she started the diet (14 months). As wonderful and helpful as our dietician is, I can't imagine being dependent on her to calculate our meals. I also can't imagine what her day would be like if she HAD to make all the meals for all her patients. (I know that she does make some). The two things that are hardest for kids on the diet, especially those in school, are (1)they can't have foods that other kids can have and (2) they have to eat foods that they don't like. Because I have been in control of 's meals, we were able to eliminate #2 completely--she had always liked her food. There is no way to eliminate #1, but eating something that she can have while other kids are having what she can't has made the diet a lot easier. We have made many changes in the diet--most of them after being seizure free for 6 months. It still amazes me how well she has done, but I know that my being able to adjust her meals in the computer at the drop of a hat has helped make that possible. It has also made me understand the workings of the diet much better. HOpe this helps!
