Guest guest
Dear MM yep......I'd say your day has qualified you for a membership in the `Doofus Brigade'. I hope your dinner party went well and you were able to enjoy your guests.......I'm sure your guests would help with the dishes if asked.......I just don't know where you get the energy to even attempt a dinner party.....I salute You. C. minniemyno@... wrote: and , Well, I guess I joined your group today. All week long I have been cleaning thehouse, organizing things like you do in the spring...as long as the energy level stayed up that is...andwas planning a small dinner party for tonight. I had invited two couples to join me and the boys forcorned beef, then got an email that one couple had an unexpected overnight guest and could theybring her along? I said sure. Now, my boys usually prefer to get away from the adult talk at thetable, so they take their dinners into the living room and watch TV until the adults are ready to makethe move into that room, and then they join the general conversation, or retreat to Mom's room andthe other TV. LOL This is to clarify that the dinner table was to be set for the guests and me, only.I confidently set it for 7. I ironed 7 napkins, polished 7 sets of silverware and 7 wine goblets. ThenI sent my teenaged son out to the garage for an extra folding chair. (This is the learning disabledchild, mind you.) He started to say something, and I assumed he was complaining about the errand, and cut him off.He goes out to the garage, brings back the chair as requested, then says, "Mama, I don't know whyyou needed this chair, there are only going to be six of you at the table." It hit me like a ton ofbricks...he was right. I had counted the extra guest as a couple, and had set up everything accordingly. DUH. So, then I began the process of rearranging the table, putting linens and dishesaway, etc. I am totally exhausted and the guests don't arrive until 7 p.m. I think I'll go take a nap.The corned beef is already cooked and sliced and in the oven warming through, and the veggies Iserve with it are steamed already. They are just keeping hot until dinner in the steamer. So, off Igo for twenty quick winks. I wish I could just drive up and honk for someone else to do the disheslater on. Guest guest
C., Don't salute too quickly, there, sweetie. I had all the table arrangements correct, I thought, and then the first guest arrives and points out that I have shorted the table by one place setting. She had to add up the guest list for me, and sure enough, I forgot SHE was coming so didn't set her place. Jeez Louise! Double Duh. LOL I am so tired I hurt all over, the last guest left at about 1:30 a.m. But, it was worth it, we had so much fun and laughed so much. I'll pay and pay and pay tomorrow, but what a lark to have these old friends over and laugh over old times. Some of the stories I had forgotten, and it was like we were kids again. Hope you are having good times, too. Loving hugs, MM
