Hi ,

Sorry, behind on mail yet again :(

If isn't well at the moment, it might be hard to tell what is what

right now, as his glucose will prob be a bit elevated?

But aside from that, I guess your theory about the cyclic seizures being from

a bit of a build up from excess cals might be possible - if he has stored

glycogen that isnt quite depleting do you mean?

I haven't had that here before, like the regular almost clockwork gaps between

seizures, either used to have them in a certain period, or not, no real

in between like you guys are seeing, so I'm not really sure.

Time wise though, yes, 4-6 am sure is a nasty time, to do with that sleep

period I assume, (I always get it mixed up - either REM or Non-REM...) and also

on keto, it is when they have the least protection from ketones, so for us as

well it was the hardest period to get rid of them.

Has he been losing any weight at all since that cal decrease a few weeks ago?

What is the cal range for his ideal weight for his height at is current age? I

think you posted that a while ago, but has he grown upwards since then?

I think another ratio increase may poss see him go too high in the evenings,

so I don't know if I would try that just yet until you get to the bottom of his

calorie need/weight issue. Or the spacing side of things - where did you get to

with that? Is he having a fairly decent meal right before bedtime?

Hopefully I should be around a bit more again from tomorrow, Jake my youngest

decided to develop sinusitus this week, and hasn't been the most pleasant kiddie

in the world to be around..... :(

PS - Yes, still remarkably uneventful here (-wise anyways) thanx, day 7

of reduction # 3 has just been and gone without anything awry, touching some

wood while I type :)

Hi -

Am wanting to pick your brain since you've been

following 's " progress " .

It's been about 6 wks. since we've increased ratio and

decreased cals. Noticable improvement w/ketones being

higher upon awakening.

I find it odd that 's seizures MAINLY occur

every two wks. between 4-6AM (if I say ALWAYS - he's

bound to have a seizure mid day or back to back - hee

hee)- I I think it's safe to make another change and

felt our choices were to: cut calories, raise ratio,

or add a snack. I decided to cut calories by 20 in

attempts to further raise ketones. IF he's ingesting

too many calories - that happen to build up in his

system to the point of a tonic clonic every 2 wks.

then perhaps this is the answer. I don't know if 20

calories will even make a difference but I didn't want

to go too low. The appropriate range is about

930-1000 calories for his size (37 lbs. 37 inches).

Do you think I should have done this as a first step

or should I have tried the snack thing? This is only

the 2nd day of our change - and he's sick as a dog.

Barely has eaten a total of 6 bites the past 3 days.

So I'm not worried about his body recognizing a change

yet. He's on antibiotics so I hope he starts to feel

better in the next day or two. One good thing is that

he's been averaging 102 temp since Sun. and he only

has had one t/c when he had 104 temp BUT - w/lots and

lots of jerks the day he came down w/his bug. YOU

KNOW how much I loathed seeing those things reappear

from NOWHERE! UGHH.. At any rate, it would be just

as easy to make another change if you think there

might be a " better " choice.

As always, I appreciate all your suggestions!

Hope 's 3rd reduction has been uneventful!

HUGS!!
