Guest guest
Cammie, I know exactly how hard it is to find pants that fit a little skinnny minnie like ! UGH! It was hard before we began the diet, but now it is impossible! All of the pants that used to fit somewhat decently are now hanging off her hips!! I can't wait until her body adjusts so she will gain back to her starting weight. I hadn't heard about kids with a lower BMI doing better w/the diet, but I guess it makes sense when you think about it. I am calculating all of the meals myself, and I am glad. After working with our dietician and not getting much from her while IN the hospital, I know she won't be much help now that we are out. Like I said, she was very " hands off " with everything. I feel very comfortable with my knowledge of how to calculate, but I know I'll still have a thousand questions. Thank God for this group! I will definitely be x-tra careful when visiting the doctor. I really needed one more thing to think about when we have an appointment!! ha ha Take care, > > , > > Great news that you are home and that Adrielle is seizure free so > far!! Guest guest
This may not apply to children, but with adults, like my daughter, I found that the initial weight loss may not be totally made up. The keto diet is like the Atkins diet and I understand that part of the initial loss is " water " . My daughter lost about 5 pounds or so at the beginning of the diet. Sure she was vomiting all the time and not eating. Even when things settled down, we maintained about 2 or 3 pounds lighter than before starting the diet. With the change now on the wean to a more normal diet, but restricting calories, some weight has come back on, but not quite up to the initial weight. Perhaps that is some water. Still no period either. Next month we start to increase calories up to " normal " , whatever that might mean.
