Guest guest
Hi , I am going down the road of the blood glucose levels over the weekend ( was supposed to be going to respite this weekend, but there is no way I am letting him out of my sight). He has been a bit brighter today albeit wobbly. I got the blood monitoring sticks and blood ketone sticks today as well. He has eaten all his food today (as he has been so dopey this week he has missed some meals and/or snacks). So far I have done the following: 4.15pm Blood ketones were 4.4 and blood glucose was 3.7 He then fell asleep and seemed to be sleeping quite soundly - he then had 2 seizures within about 1 hour. Just after the second seizure I took the following readings (again these are all bloods) 5.50pm Ketones were 3.6 and glucose was 4.0 He had a snack when he finally woke up and then half an hour later I gave him his dinner (all 3.5:1 ratio) last lot of readings I have taken are: 8.55pm ketones 2.3 and glucose is 4.2 I have given him an extra snack this evening. He is on 1860 calories per day and his snacks are 150 calories each. So I have given him an extra 150 today and we will see how that goes. What you are saying is making sense - he's a solid chap but he has no fat on him, the only thing that I have been looking at is the fact that he is appearing more hungry when he is coming in from school etc - I was beginning to think we may have to drop calories - but seeing as his seizure control WAS so good we didn't rock the boat. If this does turn out to be the problem - how soon can it be rectified and do you have any further suggestions? I would appreciate your comments on the above too. I have in with me tonight and will be taking readings all through the night - I just hope that he does have any seizures(or as many) as he has been having. Thank you so much - you have definitely given me things to work on and look into. I had reached the lost the plot stage yesterday! Hope all is well with you. Take Care Emma. - Mum to who is have a really rough time at the moment.
