When I was in high school we took a class trip to NYC. We went to the Statue of Liberty and were able to climb it as far as the head and look out the windows in the crown. The arm was cracked so no one was allowed to go up into the torch. , when I was there an elevator only went up as far as the base of the statue. We climbed a spiral stair case inside the statue. I wouldn't make it up very far these days. You had to have a good pair of legs to make it to the top. The climb was kind of scary too if I remember right. I wonder if they put an elevator to the top when they restored it? Somehow, I doubt it.

I'm hoping to get to NYC this year. I wanted to go last year but me and money didn't see eye to eye! I want to go to the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. Hopefully they open the Statue of Liberty soon. I want to be able to go up and look around and take pictures.
