Ours have done that, no matter what color they are. Our blue ones turned a

weird orangish color. That ear wax must have some powerful coloring in it!

I am interested to hear what others have to suggest!

earmold cleaning

Hi Everyone, Dad side of the family here with a technical

question...does anyone have any tips on cleaning clear earmolds? My

daughter MeKenna's molds are turning the lovely shade of amber and I

would really like to try and remove some of the staining without

damaging the molds. Thanks!

Oooo, wish I could help here, but we were never successful in stopping the

discoloration from occurring. The somewhat clear molds we started with were the

worse. Luckily in the beginning we got new molds about every 3 months.

Maybe someone else will have some great suggestions.

When they look gross and dirty even when I know they're clean, we got new

ones.

Ian goes through periods when his ears are more waxy or the wax is darker,

because we've had molds make it to the 6 month mark and look relatively new and

then ones that are disgusting at the 2 month mark.

Warm soap and water. That's what we use.

My grandmother use to clean vases with vinegar when they got coated with

gross stuff that wouldn't wash off. I've always been tempted to try that with

the molds to see if it would clean away the rust coloring, but been afraid that

it would destroy the molds. Maybe I'll try it with the current ones once we

order new ones. Then if they're destroyed, it won't create a problem.

Same here. My boys switched from clear to colored early on but the one

pair Sam had for a long time (I think nearly a year?) was clear and it

discolored...

Hi Mike - I take a toothpick, and wrap some cotton around the tip.

Then I dip it in a rubbing alchohol, just to get it damp, not soaking,

and wipe around to get the wax off - usually works -

Just check and make sure the alcohol won't damage the mold first!!! My

son's molds are flesh colored not clear - it might be different.
