My dad also had the build up of fluid around his heart and was given lasix for it. They called it, shit, can't remember, it was congestive heart failure I think. But the lasix helped him alot and he hasn't had problems with it in a long time.

Donna, I do have a friend right here in my town that was just recently dx with rsd, like, a week ago. The first thing that she did was to call me and pick my brain, what's left of it anyway. lol Now though, I haven't heard a word from her and every time I call her, she either isn't home or she's busy with one of her kids and can't talk. The worst part is though, is that I thought maybe if she finds a good dr for this crap, that I could call and see if they would take me also. But unfortunately, she was sent to the same stupid drs that I'm already seeing. If that's what you want to call it. I haven't seen either one of them, a foot dr and pain mangement dr, since Feb. They have no idea what to do for the advanced stages of rsd. (I was told I am in stage 3 with some signs of 4) She is only just starting stage 1, so they should be alright for her at this point. At least they're giving her some meds to help take the edge off. I don't have any. I think that the reason she's avoiding me, because she is avoiding me, her boyfriend told me, is because she's afraid of me, if that makes sense. I think she sees how I am and how my foot is, and she's afraid that she may end up the same way. I told her that there is a good chance that she won't, but I don't think that she believed me. I'm going to keep trying to reach her though, because I know that evenually, she's going to need to talk with someone and when she does, I'll be here. I want to make sure that she knows this. I've rambled enough for now. Thanks for listening. Hugs, Faith

Hi Faith

You're right about needing someone to talk to. Shes probably still

trying to face the truth. I know it took me a long time, some soul

searching and hitting the internet before I would even accept that it

might possibly be true. Of course having signed up for this group was

one of the first things I did because I knew I was going to need

someone to talk to, vent to, share with etc and I'm so very glad that

I came here!

You're probably right as well that she sees what your facing and

maybe fears that her future holds much the same. I wouldnt take

anything to heart at this point if she seems to be avoiding you, fear

has a big hold on people I think with all that they face or may be

facing. She will come around eventually and will need your support

and advice.

Hugs

You're probably right. I know we had a couple people come to the local support group, and when they found out that it can spread, or saw someone with a cane, etc., they admitted that they couldn't handle that type of information yet. It was pretty scary for them to think it could spread--and it is! When mine went to the right foot this year, I'm thinking "oh my gosh, will it go somewhere else now?" Had gone nearly 4 years and thought maybe it wouldn't do that.

Love,

Donna, You're thinking is the same as mine. I have also told her about this group and how wonderful all of the people are and how much information gets shared here. She currently doesn't have a computer, but she's looking into getting one and says that maybe once she gets online she'll give us a try. I hope that she does. I really think that she's going to need more than just me for support. Especially since she ended up having to have the same ignorant, don't-know-nothing-about-rsd doctors that I have. She's not going to learn anything from them. I have learned so much from everyone here. I'm glad that I joined also. Hugs, Faith

> Faith

Youre right, shes going to need more support that you are going to be

able to offer her, there will be questions perhaps that you wont be

able to answer that others might and more than likely there will also

be days when she needs more than you can emotionally or physically

offer to her. Getting information from other sources will be

important to her as well and perhaps there might even be information

that the two of you may learn together. Give her our best and when

she has a chance to get involved with the group she will be of course

welcomed abard.

And what others are saying about low

> potassium is also what may be causing it. You need to get a blood

test to see

> what your potasiium levels are. Of course this is not the only

thing that

> causes it but it helps to rule out what does or doesn't.

I eat at least one banana a day and take a multivitamin so I dont

know that my potassium level is down. The muscle spasms I get arent

like charley horse pain, its a deep tightening mostly in my abdomen

that works itself into a release that shakes me like the hiccups. Its

the strangest feeling. I was lying down a little while ago on my side

and it did again. So much for my nap LOL

I have had them in my arms and legs as small jolts but nothing like

in my stomach, again its not painful but more jolting.

I will ask my primary though when I see him and see what he thinks

might be up.

Thanks for your suggestion, I'll try it and it certainly cant hurt

any.
