I don't know, if you just dropped her to 3:1 last night, I would hold tight for the a bit. Each ratio change is a metabolic change and they don't occur instantly. My understanding was to always wait a couple of weeks at least to assess a calorie change and three to four weeks to assess a ratio change. So if I was you, I would leave her at 3:1 for at least two weeks and probably a bit longer if you could. Keep watching ketones and use juice or whatever to treat her when they are too high but give the change time to work its way through. You may well need to go to 2.5;1 or lower, each child is different. Its not a weaning ratio for everyone, some kids do great at around 2:1. But you need to give it time to see Just my thoughts , 's mom > > > To counter the high ketones I am dropping her ratio to 2.5 : 1 to > see what happens. Guest guest
Hi The calorie decrease and ratio change could be working against each other here. I have found a calorie decrease to increase ketones, and ration decrease to lower ketones. It's usually better to change only one thing at a time, it is difficult to know what is causing what otherwise. Is there a reason for changing both at once? Also, 300 calories is a huge amount to drop. Was she gaining too much weight? Perhaps putting some calories back rather than lowering the ratio would help. With Claire I have found it best to get the calories right first, then experiment with the ratio. Good luck Jill At 06:17 AM 5/09/2004, you wrote: >Well, over the past few weeks we have dropped dear down from >1200calories and 4:1 ratio to 900 at 3:1 ratio.
