Guest guest
Hi List, I need to vent and maybe get some feedback before I decide what to say to the school principal tomorrow a.m. has been fighting a horrible cold ( doing extra nebs and vests to try to get on top of it) and came home today with this news of his P.E. class. Today, in temperatures in the low-mid 40's, the substitute P.E. teacher decided to hold class outdoors ( for the first time since the weather turned cold.) The jist of this is, the kids in my son's class were outside for 30-40 minutes in mid 40 degree temps in just their gym shorts and T-shirts! They were not given the option of wearing a coat or even missing the class and going to the library or some other activity. The required " uniform " for P.E. is gym shorts and T-shirts so all the students in the class were attired this way! The Mom in me is just livid! I feel that this was poor judgement plain and simple, but I am angry that someone with this poor judgement could be put in charge of a class with no regard for their health and safety! I ( being a completely over-protective parent), am planning on speaking with the principal in the morning and voice my opinion and concerns (politely of course). Am I over-reacting? I really feel that this put all students at risk and not just my child with CF. I still cannot believe the stupidity of the situation! The first time told me I thought he was joking! Guest guest
Laurie, I would be mad also, even if it was my oldest daughter who is completely healthy. But then again I am an over protective mother also, lol. Karrie mother to Chasity age 6 1/2, normal and healthy and Abby age 4 1/2 microcephaly, severe developmental and physical delays, epilepsy, pachygyria, and possible Cystic Fibrosis. The list is growing. www.clik.to/abigail Teachers/Poor Judgement > Hi List, > > I need to vent and maybe get some feedback before I decide what to say > to the school principal tomorrow a.m. > has been fighting a horrible cold ( doing extra nebs and vests to > try to get on top of it) and came home today with this news of his P.E. > class. Guest guest
Laurie, If there is anyone in his P.E. class that you have a phone number for call their parents and see if their child says the same thing. You'll need back up first probably. Even if your child has CF....there is still no reason why they needed to go outside! I would put up a BIG stink also! This is why we need 504's!!!!! from PA
