Guest guest
THE STORM ( A "Shadow Dreams" Tale) As I became more adept at finding my way to my friends of My Shadow Dreams.....I guess I learned to use a form of self- hypnosis to pass the endless hours of the boring day. I would close my eyes and remember where I left them...and visualize......... The last I was with them ...was in a cool green valley with a stream running through. `Shadow Rider', My imaginary Indian Friend, and I ,`Shadow Dreamer', ( Myself in Imagination.).....had ridden our Shadow Horses.....`Shadow' and `Magic'.. to a clear pool ....and had gazed at our reflections....as two small Indian Children .....a boy.....and a girl.......and I marveled at what my imagination could do. But somehow without warning my Dream began to turn tragic. Suddenly Shadow Rider stood upright , and the horses began to skitter... I felt a change in the air ..the wind began to whip around, bringing the Peacefulness to an end, the atmosphere was charged , and there were storm clouds on the horizon moving quickly toward us....... too fast ..... suddenly the wind grew bitter..... The warm sun had disappeared......and swirling clouds brought a driving sheet of rain that seemed to come from every direction.... drenching us to the skin.....the lightening flashed and I could smell the ozone in the air.... Shadow Rider managed to coach the horses to let us approach. He boosted me onto the bare back of Magic, and urged me to hold onto the horses thick mane, as he scanned the horizon for a place to take shelter from the storm. Then he said,"over there.......see those cliffs? ....I know of a cave we will be safe there .....but we must hurry!" I followed his lead as we set out at a dead run for the cliffs..... Suddenly.....an ear splitting crack of lightening came too close and my horse reared straight up on his hind legs.....I lost my grip on his mane and slid off his back as the horse and I screamed a chilling duet of fear... I landed hard on my back.....and the world turned black as I lost conciousness.....the last thing I remembered.....was the horses hoofs narrowly missing my face...and another pair of hoofs sliding to a halt as Shadow Rider came back for me to try to help me to safety!! © March 2004 " Lonewolf " Carey
