Guest guest
Welcome, My name is Cheryl. I live in California. I was on HRT for a few years. It didn't effect my lupus. I quit taking it because i heard on the news that they found out it is causing cancer in some people. I used the web sites and investigated a lot about it. The medical journals are full of documents about the dangers of hrt. I decided to quit taking it. I had a few hot flashes and that was all. There are things you can get in the health food store that are helpful and good for you too. black cohash is a common on to use. my dr. recomended i go to the health food store. -- New to group, just had a hystorectomy , HRT and SLE? Dear Fellow Lupies,Thank you in advance for being here when I need you! I've been in egroups for lupus before, but have been doing really well (yeah!!!) for the last year and a half or so. As a result I've been so involved with other endeavours, I'm not really in touch with a group right now. I was diagnosed with lupus 14 years ago, and have lived the roller coaster that comes with this frustrating disease. A number of years ago, I was so sick I was in bed most of the time...for almost two years. In the last two years, I have taken on a job, and feel better than I have in a decade. So for those of you who are suffering, PLEASE have hope. Lupus is so full of surprises, and sometimes, they can be positive.I am writing now because I just had a hysterectomy last week. I'm 45, have SLE, fibro, endometriosis, severe migraines and pms (well, maybe not anymore!!!!!!) I feel good about the hysto because the pain has been really getting unbearable, I had two very large cysts that would have been almost impossible to remove without taking my ovaries, and my gynecologist feels that my migraines and emotional volatility will be monumentally better without wildly fluctuating hormones from wildly fluctuating ovaries. My question to all of you: has anybody had any experience with HRT and lupus? I have concerns about taking hormones and stimulating the endo, so that's one issue. Obviously, there are the issues of being suddenly menopausal at 45. And then, the BIGGIE...what will HRT do to my SLE? That is the big one. All the other stuff is minor in comparison. I just don't want to send the lupus crazy, so, I thought I would ask the experts, you guys, us Lupies, for advice!I look forward to being part of this group, sharing my stories of living with lupus, and helping out newbies who are just starting to face the long journey with the wolf. Thank you in advance to any and all who can help me along my walk with lupus and this new situation I face.In Friendship, son"The LUPIES Store" Come check out our store...http://www.cafepress.com/thelupies"The LUPIES Web Page"http://www.itzarion.com/lupusgroup.html"The LUPIES online photo albums!" Guest guest
I used to take Prempro and heard about the studies they did and weaned myself off too. I don't know for sure if it affected my Lupus since I didn't have my dx at the time. I can't remember when I started having symptoms since I did everything I could to ignore them in the beginning. I know now what a mistake that was. I should have told my doctor everything but I was afraid he would think I was a hypochondriac. Hey, I was doubting myself too! Strange when you can't believe yourself, isn't it? Hugs... Karol New to group, just had a hystorectomy , HRT and SLE? Dear Fellow Lupies,Thank you in advance for being here when I need you!
