Guest guest
I told you that I'm going to be buggin you and I am. Its been a year and I'm forgetting things. s ratio is 2:1 calories 1290, protein 26g Should I plug that total in to the meal planner or plug in less (990 cals) and do snacks separately. He is going to get 3 meals at 330 each and 3 snacks for the rest. How would you plug those into the mealplanner? We are using the Stanford mealplanner. Guest guest
Hi , When I do that part, I have found it easier to work out percentage wise the protein amount based on what percentage of total cals the snack or meal is, and then treat each meal as separate in the mealplanner. Like for example, 330 cals is 25.6% of 1290, so 25.6% of his prt allowance is 6.66 gms. I would enter that in the mealplanner as one meal over the whole day - 330 cals, 6.66 prt on a 2:1 ratio, and let it work the carb and fat out based on that. The other two 330 cal meals would be the same, leaving just a percentage calculation from the total cal allowance of 1290 for the snacks to be done, depending on whether they are all the same totals. Does that make sense? Holler if you want me to help work the snack totals out. PS - I wouldn't fast him if it were me I don't think, he might overshoot the mark and get into trouble with excess ketosis, esp as he is one who seems to make ketones fairly easily. ----- Original Message ----- From: lloydandleslie@... Guest guest
, Thanks for your input. So you divide each meal out on the mealplanner and put it in as 1 meal. I'll try that. When we started the diet before, our dietician did not perfectly balance out the snacks only the ratio. I'm going to try to work on it. Its all coming back to me. It was kind of weird this am with that scale on the counter. I put it in a different place this time. Isnt that silly. I just hated that scale so much the last time but we've had almost a year away from it and I'm kinda happy to see it hoping that it will give some relief. How is s wean going?? Is he sz free? I hope you are able to rid the depakote if you want to. I have to tell you that since we added it back 3 mos ago for his moods have gotten soooooo much better that I wonder if the depakote helps his moods and behaviors. Its does make him a bit slower and also more uncoordinated. He is getting 125 in am and 250 at pm. Glad to see you are around. You are much better at the calculations in math than I am. I had to take calculus and finite math twice each in college to get the grades. Math is not my forte'. Take care
Guest guest
, I have done it this way, too. It is more precise because the calories match exactly. The other thing I have done, which I think is easier, but you may not, is to enter a total of 4 meals per day into the planner. Then, a snack is 1/3 of a meal--# of your " meals " are meals and the 4th " meal " is actually the three snacks added together. We went back and forth between 3 meals/3 snacks and 3meals/2 snacks using the same overall diet Rx. This worked like a champ because I didn't have to change meals and snacks in the planner. If you were to do it that way using the numbers you posted, each snack would have 107 cals. instead of 100. The cals in meals would be decreased to 323 cals. The total daily calories would still be 1290. I wouldn't think that 7 cals either way would make a difference in a meal vs. snack. The way to make it perfectly precise is what recommended with separate sheets for your meals and snacks. Good Luck!
