Guest guest
Best of luck to Christoper on the diet. I can't see the point of fasting, since he's in large ketosis already. I think one center, my memory says Mayo Clinic, is getting away from the fasting to induce ketosis, and doing more what you did with Christoper. Actually, with Lily, we sort of started the diet that way. She did Atkins for a day or so, and was in large ketosis right away. They started on the keto shake. No point in keeping food from them if their bodies are cooperating. Lily has drop seizures as well, and Topamax and Klonopin didn't work for her. The diet has worked much better than the drugs, but not perfectly. It seems like control is getting better, however, so fingers are crossed. Best of luck, Caitlin > Hey friends, > > I have a few questions. Guest guest
You are right and we did not fast this am. The transition went very smoothly and he ate every drop. I'm so scared. I think more this time than the last time just because of what I know the alternative is. I'll keep you posted. How did the ratio increase go? and the behaviors? You know something I remember from when went through that the last time, which is why we took him off the diet because he was soooo crazy and obsessed with food. We had to lower the calories. Too many calories can produce excess hunger. you probably know this but I thought I 'd tell you our experience. Hang in there and thanks a bunch for your support
Guest guest
Hi! Good luck and hope all goes smoothly for you as you re-start the diet! It seems to me the purpose of fasting is to get the kids into ketosis. If his ketones are already large (are they 80 or 160 on your sticks?) you should only have to try to maintain it with the diet. Anyway, this is the way I understood the initiation process! We're fairly new to all of this, so I'm sure someone with more expertise will come along!
