Guest guest
Elana, I had a hysteroscopy about two years ago. I know it's really scary-sounding, but it's REALLY fast. Yes, I will admit it hurt, but the pain is really brief. In my case, I was given a sedative in advance, and then was advised to take some Ibuprofen and rest for the remainder of the day. The actual time for the procedure is less than 10 minutes (at least in my case). I'm sure your doctor is well aware of how discomfiting it is, and will be sensitive to you. Try to relax a little -- hopefully, this will just be a way to ensure there is nothing wrong! I think that's what half the anxiety stems from. And please, make sure you have someone with you! You will definitely not be able to get home on your own if you are given a sedative. Good luck... we'll be thinking of you. JT

Oh, Elana, I'm sorry you're going through all of this! I guess your recovery depends a lot on you, and how you react to the situation as well as any sedative/pain meds you get. I would assume you should go home, if only because it sounds like this is causing you a lot of stress and you might be even just emotionally exhausted after it's over. Why not plan on a leisurely afternoon at home -- stock up a good movie, maybe pick up a craft or hobby, and relax? And if you live near me (Chicago), put on about six layers? (It's really cold here -- probably normal for the Alaska folks, but I've been at work for an hour and a half and just now warmed up from the drive! Best wishes, JT
Guest guest
Hi Elana... I am sorry to hear that you are feeling a little under the weather. I have been trying to fight the same thing all last month and it seems to not be getting any better. I also wanted to apologize for not replying to your last email regarding WLB. I would love to have the extra support, however, I am unsure how to use my instant messaging and I do not have AOL. If you could throw some pointers my way I would greatly appreciate it. I think it would be very beneficial to have that one on one support along with the rest of the group to keep each other motivated. What do you say? As my title stated this year is not starting out the way i wanted it to. For starters i have been sick since tuesday. started with a cold then turned into aches and pains and now i am stuck with this horrible cough and hoarse throat. Next thing is i am now having TOM which is not helping the situation. i feel like biting everyones' head off. i think i should just go and hibernate for the next week or so until i get back to my sweet self. Due to both of these things i haven't exercised in a week and a half. i can't breathe due to this cold and my asthma has been acting up so i just have to wait until i feel up to it whenever that will be. Food wise haven't been doing too well. i have been doing a bit better but not much. during this period of TOM i am so hungry and just feel like eating all the time. i need to get a handle on that. i was hoping to make all kinds of new years resolutions but won't until i feel better emotionally and physically. it would just be a waste seeing that i won't be able to tackle them at this time. i am also having a hysteroscopy (sp?) this sunday which i am not looking forward to. i am a little hysterical to say the least. i am not great with pain and there is known to be some with this test. please keep me in your thoughts and I hope it goes smoothly. I also pray that everything is normal and they don't find anything wrong. anhow, i have been reading all the posts even though i have been quiet lately. I hope to be back to my old self soon. Welcome to all the newcomers. You have found a terrific group. Hope you all have a great day.
