I used to always be able to work in my garden almost all day long...but

today, i worked for about thirty minutes and had to stop...I was just

planting zinnas for the butterflies....i was kneeling down on a mat and

was using a little hand shovel to make a hole and i got this terrible

pain in my right kidney...this happened also the other day when I was

moving a box of beads in my blazer...I immediately stopped and the pain

went away...idk what is wrong...what i was doing was not something I

have never done before...I am used to planting flowers....any ideas?

chippy

Happy birthday everyone....I cannot keep up. chippy

Chippy, Unfortunately, as Lupus gets a firmer hold on us, and if we have been on steroid therapy,

especially, our bones lose density, and our connective tissues weaken. This means that the same

movement that never bothered us before, now can make us hurt, sometimes injure us, too. So, it

is always best to try littler loads, stretch the muscles BEFORE lifting anything, and remember, this is

a new way to live and move...it takes practice. Keep us posted on how you do, 'k? We love you, and

want you to feel as good as you can. If the pain comes when you are NOT moving or lifting, you

may need to get your kidney function tested...not a bad idea, anyway. Loving hugs, MM
