Hey group,

My 12 year old daughter has been on the keto diet for many years

now. Have been lowering her ratio over the last 18 months. We are

on a 2:1 now. Got the go ahead to lower to 1:5 and then to Atkins.

Any advice or guidance on how to wean to Atkins. What has been

people's experience weaning to aktins and seizure control???

I have been gradually going down over the past 1 1/2 to 2 years. We are

now at 0.22/1 ratio, so even lower than most North American diets. We go

down by .5 or less every one to two months. We try to keep protein and

carbohydrates about equal, within about 30%. We restrict calories, so we

are more like keto than Atkins. The next step will be to gradually

increase calories. So far, seizure control is the same as always.

Sometimes we see an increase in seizures for the first week or so after

a change in diet.

I don't see any advantage to going to Atkins diet. It is not as healthy

and has medical problems reported.
