Does anyone else use sugar free jello every meal? Is is an ok food.

I put it in my planner and everything but do you think it has any

chance of hurting Jordan's seizure control? The reason I like to use

it so much is because I mix it with his whipped cream and he LOVES

it!! Plus it is easy for me to use it to manipulate the ratio to

make sure it is exactly 4 to 1. Sorry for so many questions ya'll

are the only support I get really!! TIA!

We use a lot of sugar free jello. Just like Jordan, my loves it

mixed with cream. Jello " jigglers " are a good treat food. I've also

frozen it for popsicles. Our summer favorite is to make the jello

according to the package directions and let it sit at room temp.

until it is completely cool (it won't gel). Then pour it over

crushed ice for a " snow cone " . The ice will make the jello start to

gel. We haven't had any problems at all, but as you've heard from

others, aspartame can be a seizure trigger for some people. If you

are using it and haven't seen any decrease in seizure control, I'd

say it's probably o.k. for him. If you lose seizure control, take

the jello away for at least a week (it might take two) and use only

foods that have led to better control previously. If seizure control

returns, there's a good chance the aspartame is the culprit. You can

test by giving jello again with the very same foods you have been

using (so that the jello is the only thing that's different). If

seizures increase again, you can be pretty sure it's the jello.

Well he is still having seizures. Although they are NOTICABLY

weaker!! But I have been crediting them to his cold turkey cut of

Depakote. I was just wondering if it could be the aspartame. Maybe I

will cut it for a few days.

Hey, it is worth a try. Each child responds differently to so many of the

variables. Also, the cream can be sweetened with stevia or whatever you use for

a tastey treat. .

We have used asparteme with no increase in seizures. My son drinks

2 diet pops a day. I don't really like it, but it keeps him happy.

I wouldn't worry too much about jello at every meal. If you aren't

getting seizure control or see an increase in seizures, then you

could take it away. Our center uses asparteme, too. So, I don't

really think it causes seizures in all kids prone to seizures.

Just a quick question. Hannah is still on liquid diet only (she's 9 1/2 months

old, ) but I see a long keto life ahead of us. Does jello contain protein like

Knox does?

Hi , yes, the jello has protein in it. I give it to Kristan

once in a while and on the recipe printout I get from her dietitian

it does list a value under the protein for the ratio that she is on.

How is Hannah doing? Have you been able to get ketones?

YES! We have ketones and about an 80% decrease in seizure activity! What a

different baby she is. I feel like our prayers are slowly being answered. Hannah

is still behind, she holds her head a little but that is it. She was recently

dx with cortical visual impairment and we are still awaiting answers to her

underlying mitochondrial and metabolic issues. Perhaps we will have answers

soon....we just found out we are pregnant again. Hannah was our first and we

always wanted a large family. The reality is a little scary though. Pray and

keep your fingers crossed!

That's great news . I hope you get total control soon.

Kristan was very floppy as well but now her head and trunk control

are pretty much back to normal. It took a lot of therapy to get her

there, but it was worth it. Just wait, Hannah will get there too, do

you try to do a lot of tummy time with her, put her on a pillow to

raise her up a bit, that helped with Kristan. Kristan's eye doctor

thinks she has cortical visual impairment too, but they are not 100%

sure, Kristan's vision is not that great.

I hope you do find some answers on what is the cause, for us, it

looks like we will never know. Congratulations on your second

pregnancy, I pray it all goes well and that Hannah has a healthy

sibling to play with.
