Guest guest
That's great. I hope I can do the same thing w/my 6 year old. March 2005 will mark her 3rd year w/the diet and I'm debating whether to keep her on a lower ratio or just take her off. Her seizures had returned during the last couple months and I'm starting to wonder if the diet effectiveness had worn out. Being on the diet had greatly reduced her # and length of seizures. I was very worried about her speech since she didn't started to talk until she was 4 years old. She still has lot of work to do to catch up w/her peers as far as her communication skills. Keep me posted w/Shan's update.--- goeatseaweed ackerman@...> wrote: > > To those of you who have been following our Shan > recently and over > the years, I wanted to let you know that we have > taken Shan off the > diet. Guest guest
Rhonda, After 3 years, I'm sure Shan (and you!) are happy to have a break. I hope everything stays stable now and she can continue to enjoy some different foods. She's my kinda girl... I love oatmeal with jam and toast, too. Do keep us updated! Guest guest
The very best of luck Rhonda, over 3 yrs here too now, and boy, does a break sound tempting..... I hope the increased trileptal does the trick for Shan and that you can keep her a much wider variety of foods. would be very jealous.. ----- Original Message ----- From: goeatseaweed To those of you who have been following our Shan recently and over the years, I wanted to let you know that we have taken Shan off the diet. Its been almost 2 weeks since we took her off. We still are not sure how this will go. She continues to have a periodic seizure at night. Also, she began to have very mild partials while awake. About 5 days ago we started her on a very small dose of trileptal in the morning to go along with the night dose she takes. This has taken care of the day time partials. We are hoping that all will go well. After being on the diet for nearly 3 years we feel like her body needs a break from it. If things continue the way they are presently then we will keep her off the diet. But if they change for the worse then we will put her back on it. She is definately liking the food changes. Interestingly, since taking her off her strength and energy has increased even more. We are keeping her away from preservatives and colorings and other possible triggers, but she has developed a love for oatmeal and jam/toast. I'm still lurking on the list and I will continue to keep you posted. Rhonda
