Guest guest
Broc has been on the diet for about two months now and we can not maintain a deep ketosis. We are usually in the 40 to 80 range. We have been making some adjustments but still nothing. Our biggest struggle is to get him to drink his full requirement of liquids. Currently he is on 1000 calories, a 4 to 1 ratio, and 1100 cc of liquids. We are lucky to get 3/4 of this in him. Is this effecting ketosis or just putting him at increased risk for kidney stones. I would think if anything it would make ketones higher. Mike Bartenhagen mike@...> mike@... www.blackcows.com
Guest guest
Hi Mike ph was also very big drinker before the diet ,he used to drink juice and nothing except juice! We have tried different beverages and he did not want anything but water. The problem is he does not drink enough water by himself from the cup,but he does not mind to drink it from suringe either by himself or with my help.It does look a bit silly, but who cares? He also does not drink kool aid but he does not mind it as popsicles and actually he loves them.I also invented " tomato soup " ( he loved real tomato soup before the diet) which adds fluid to his diet too. With all this tricks he gets his volume.Have you tried popsicles? As for ketones maybe you should try to talk with your dietitian and play with different fats? I am pretty happy with flax oil(some people here talk about adverse effect but we have not see any so far) and it does keep his ketones high even in morning hours. Guest guest
Thanks for the suggestions. We haven't tried popsicles but Broc is not a very good eater so I don't know if they would work but it is worth a try. Guest guest
Mike When I made popsicles for the firs time,I was sure ph would not even know what to do with it as we have never gave him real popsicles or ice-cream.I also though he would not have it as it is the same kool aid he did not want to drink. But he figured it out very fast and now he loves them.So you'll never know untill you try Natasha > Thanks for the suggestions.
