Guest guest
Bill, because Kristan is mostly bottle fed, we figure that is why her BM's are so runny. When she has solid meals once a day consistently the BM's are not runny. She was on antibiotics recently for her pneumonia. I'm so afraid to give her yogurt, it has carbs and she gets very little carbs, but if I give her like half a teaspoon a day and not calculate into her meals, would that be ok? Do the capsules of acildolphilus have carbs in them and are they over the counter or a prescription required. Satnam > > Oh my, that's no fun. Thanks for the warning. Guest guest
Satnam, Capsules of acidophilus are over the counter as far as I know. I don't know about any carbs in them. I would give half a teaspoon a day of plain natural yoghurt and not count it. Even half a teaspoon at breakfast and a half at dinner would be okay. If it clears up her digestion it will have a much larger affect because of the change in digesting the food. Are you using MCT oil? I have heard and read that it can cause digestive problems for some people. Bill kristansmommy wrote: > Bill, because Kristan is mostly bottle fed, we figure that is why her > BM's are so runny. Guest guest
Hi Bill, I will try the yogurt. Should I just give her 1/2 a teaspoon everyday from now on? As I said earlier, we find her BM's are usually runny when she has not had a solid meal. We are using MCT oil which was added to see if it would help raise ketones, I did not know that it can cause digestive problems. I've been thinking of asking her dietitian to stop the MCT oil and ask to replace it with flax seed oil to see if that ups her ketones. Guest guest
I would add the 1/2 teaspoon of yogurt for 4 days. That should be enough. We didn't notice any difference in ketones from using MCT oil. Dr. Freeman's book mentions possible digestive problems from using it, just like you are having. Flax seed oil can be hard on some people. We got a lot of seizures from just a bit of it. I don't know why. We like to use BECEL margarine or safflower oil or canola oil. They seem to be mild and easily digested. We had the best ketones with just right calories and a fairly high ratio. Bill kristansmommy wrote: > Hi Bill, I will try the yogurt. Guest guest
Thanks for all of your assistance Bill. I really appreciate it. We also use BECEL Margarine instead of butter as Kristan's cholosteral was high while using butter. I will be careful with the flax seed oil if I get the go ahead from Kristan's dietitian. Thanks again, Satnam > >> > >>>Bill, because Kristan is mostly bottle fed, we figure that is why > >> > > her > > > >>>BM's are so runny. Guest guest
Do you know what values the dietician uses for BECEL margarine for fat, prot, and carbs. Thanks, Bill kristansmommy wrote: > Thanks for all of your assistance Bill. I really appreciate it. Guest guest
Hi Bill, the values for Kristan's meals as indicated on the printout she provides me with are: per meal - protein - 3.33; fat - 16.30; carb - 1.32; calories 165. Kristan gets 4 meals a day and one snack that is 75Kcal. As I don't know how to work out the meals, I'm confused about the breakdown of the snack values, the print out indicates the same values for snacks as meals, but the calories are 75 for a snack and I think she just didn't correct the values on the printout for the snack, I don't know. She is on 735 kcal a day. Kristan's last weight was 11.8 kg/26 lbs and her height is 82 cm. All of Kristan's solid meals have a combo of BECEL and MCT oil in them. She does not get any MCT oil in her snacks. Thanks.
