Guest guest
I’ll re-post my PS to Tim R, to hopefully get his two bits regarding this thread… because not only is he a most valuable member of this group, he is also a much-needed presence in another group (which I mentioned in my previous post), the Liver Transplant Support Group. That group, by the way, isn’t just for transplantees – there are people there who’ve yet to climb “that” mountain… just as there are PSCers in our PSC Support Group who have not yet been transplanted (some who hope to be soon, some who hope to never be, some who wish they could but know they can’t, etcetera, etcetera, ad nauseum). But inasmuch as Tim Re is a participating member to both groups (as was Shauna, as am I, as are perhaps others from our PSC Support Group who want to not just be informed about PSC, but also need to be in that “other” post-transplant learning curve, too?), does this necessarily mean Tim R is there because his needs aren’t being met here? I can’t speak for Tim, I can only address Jim’s my needs. MOST of our needs are met here, but not all of them. It’s a darned-near perfect support group, however it can’t possibly cover everything in the books (for that part of life called the post-transplant roller coaster). Heck, a couple years back, I even considered seeking out a support group for transplantees struggling with post-tx skin cancer issues. Eliminating the prednisone (albeit temporarily, with respect to Jim’s colitis flares) & dialing down the Prograf more or less took care of that need, though. Despite some wonderful individuals who kindly offered their assistance (knowledge, insight, advice, opinions) to Jim & me, down the road, when it comes time… If this group as a whole doesn’t meet Jim’s needs when it comes time to yank his colon, we’ll consider some colectomy support group, too. We’d be utterly foolish not to!
