The MCT diet has a liquid called liquigen(or MCT oil) added to food/drinks,

it is not all liquid. Its worth reading about the classical diet as well as

they are both creating ketosis and thus have the same side effects and lots of

other similarities.

What type of epilepsy does your son have?

Hi Nicola

Matt has had sz's from 3 months old and didn't start to have spasms until 5

months he has never had any control of his sz's and currently can have about

60+known sz's he also has a brainwave pattern called hyparrythmia which is part

of a syndrome which means he is also having constant unseen sz's aswell.

The liquid form is a trial they are doing at GOSH and Matt has lost his sucking

reflex about a year ago.

Will look for the book - thanks

Deb,

its a good treatment, the sooner its is started the better the resultsi.e.

the shorter the period the child has uncontrolled epilepsy.

Why is yours in liquid form?Does your son have difficulty eating/swallowing?

Try to read " The ketogenic diet " by Freeman before your meeting so you

can make a list of all the questions you really need answering,

Hi Deb,

my son is also called .I hope the diet does work for Matt.

I think the longer the seizures are un controlled the worse the

developmental delays.

How old did you say Matt was now?(my memory is getting worse with age and

kids:.))

Did you look at the s friends website? It is really good, Emma

(another s mum ) is running that.

I got hold of all the books I needed from Amazon.

Have you got a starting date for the diet?
