Guest guest
, Kalob's 3rd day of keto sounds just like my 11 year old son's. Ehtna was fine for the first few days, and just as we were about to leave the hospital, he started throwing up. Even The thought of food made him feel sick. We went home anyway, since we were already checked out, and I thought maybe I could prepare more tasty meals for him. But he remained sick to his stomach for several days, throwing up meals and not wanting to eat. I know now that it was his body adjusting to the ketones. Relief finally came on Sunday morning.(we initiated keto on Tuesday) I made a rootbeer float using his cream allotment (or maybe only half of it at that point), sugar-free rootbeer and ice crushed in my food processor (snow cone machine or just a hammer would work, too.) He sipped this and I could see the relief literally flood his body. Finally something tasted good! If you are staying away from asparteme, you could use club soda, cream, crushed ice, sweetner and orange flavoring (We call it an orange julius). It really sounds to me like Kalob is adjusting to ketosis. Keep checking his glucose level and as long as that is high enough, just hang in there. I'll bet things will improve for him as his body adjusts. Also, don't try to give him full meals, try 1/2 meals until his appetite returns. I think Ethan lived on rootbeer floats for a few days. He lost about 10 of his 71 pounds, but he eventually got that all back. We had a very rough start to keto, but knowing I had no other options, and with the support of this group, I kept going. Today my son is seizure free, off medicine, and keeping up at school with very little help from the aid who last year assisted him full time. You can do it! Gretchen > Again.
