Hi Gretchen, it was 24 hr eCg monitoring, not eEg (so cardiac - not brain :)

, we don't get 24 hr EEGs very often here - well we do, but they are like gold

and usually only used as a work up for surgery if there is a focal point...

's last EEG was in Jan, haven't had one since then as it was normal, and

so far haven't really had the need to - touching some wood....perhaps we will do

one again next Jan if he remains stable, just to make sure nothing has popped up

'underneath' that we might be missing, or I might ask for one before we do his

next treatment change as a baseline - like if weaning one of his meds or

lowering his ratio much further when (or if!!) his 12 mth seizure free period in

Dec comes round.

The cardiac issues he has (all benign in their own right - ventricular

ectopics, benign heart murmur and sinus arrhythmia...but combined they need a

close eye kept on them on, esp now he is on the diet) have been around for quite

some time, but when he was having bad seizure patches it was always hard to know

which angle to attack and monitor first! This recent one was a fairly routine

monitoring - he has an annual 24 hr ECG holter at home here to measure the

number of ectopic (extra) beats he is having in a given period. When the number

had increased at the last check, he was also showing signs of left ventriclar

dysfunction, (meant one chamber in his heart was not working 100%) albeit mild,

but that is the part that seems to have cleared up now, so that was good news :)

Personally, I think his med (er benzo) situation had aggravated things there,

and the cardio said that this was a possibility, so hopefully he is on the road

upwards in that dept too :)

Hi ,

I am seconding 's question about 's EEG, even though

I see you won't know for awhile. I didn't realize he was going in

for 24 hour monitering. Sorry to hear about the school he missed

just before holiday; but I'm glad he is healthy again. Nothing for

you to respond to here; I guess I just wanted you to know I saw the

post and am thinking of you.

Gretchen
