Guest guest
Christy, how often are the seizures? Try another Dr for sure. The medications usually worsen kids development in my opinion. Also the sooner you start the diet the better the success rate it seems. Good luck, Nicola in the UK
Guest guest
Dear Christy You have come to the right place. There are mothers on this list with babies, on keto formulas, who can tell you all what you need to know. They will respond. Do not give up. Many of the children represented on this list have delays and have moved ahead dramatically once the seizures were controlled, or even partially controlled, by the diet. My daughter is one. Though she is not at age level developmentally, she is doing well and learning. She hadn't been moving ahead much since the seizures began. Hang in there! You have come to the right place for encouragement and sharing of experience and knowledge of the keto diet. , 's mumma CHRISTY VELA christysebas@...> wrote: HI, I have been searching for an alternative for my 9 month old child, who has been just ben diagnosed with infantile spasms and I believe another type of seizure too.....that is not picked up by the EEG. He is currently on two medications, in which, I believe is too much .....and for what? The meds don't assure me that he won't be getting seizures anymore and the doctor jus told me plainly that he is going to be " Retarded. " Him telling me this hurt me deeply. I did request that if he could do this diet on him and he jus said, " No, that we only do that if the child's spasms are uncontrolable " . I thought....well why would you want for him to get to that point. He jus started getting these seizures in the month of August. What is your opinion (anyone)? I did request to get a second opinion, though. Concerned mother, Christy --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo! Mail - 100MB free storage! Guest guest
Christy, My daughter Wyaema, was four months old when she started having seizures. For four months the doctors kept her so sedated trying to control her seizures. We were having a 150 a day and on 12 meds, after only having one or two every couple of days. We finally started the diet a after not being able to control the seizures with meds. She is now so far behind developmetally. Although we are no longer on the diet, I would push to start right away. I think if we would have tried that first we would not be this far behind. Good Luck!
