Guest guest
Dear My daughter is five years old, med free, and started the diet in May of this year. We have had some ups and downs with the diet, all of which could have been avoided, I am sure. However, we are still doing it and it is working, AND I AM LEARNING. This group is a wonderful resource for parents. Especially those who do not have a keto team that is really teaching them the " hows " and " whys " of the diet. is delayed, and basically had not moved much forward for almost three years, since the seizuring began. She is moving ahead slowly now that she is not seizuring. This is a wonderful " side effect " of the diet - restoration of alertness, and often cognitive skills return or move ahead. She often would only seizure once a week or less, but would have a bad week of seizures each month. It was like clockwork. One week was a mess, the rest were okay. She no longer has those nasty weeks, though she does have a seizure here and there. I am hoping for complete seizure control with keto. Meds only escalated her seizures. You must be getting anxious. The flip side is that JHopkins KNOWS the diet and will teach you what you need to know. It will be great. I was taught nothing, really. All " keto centers " are not created equally! , mum to Stettz catatao@...> wrote: Hi , Thanks for the Atkins group info. I will definitely subscribe and look into the specifics further. The folks at Hopkins offered me both the Atkins study and the ketogenic diet, but I opted for the ketogenic route after reading Dr. Freeman's book. My reasoning was that the ketogenic diet has a proven track record, Atkins does not. However, I realize that may be a good option at some point. Do you have any direct experience with Atkins your daughter? Has the keto diet worked well for her? Thanks, Re: Heavy cream Bill, Lately, the only thing we could think of was that about the same time we saw an increase in seizures was the time we changed creams. We have used thesame brand for years and have been fine. All of the sudden, these seizures started happening daily and we thought it might be the probiotics or the cream. We stopped the probiotics and the seizures have slowed down but not completely. Now, I'm going back to the old cream. All of this has happened since the constipation issues in July. We just can't get him back on track. Its sooooooooo frustrating. You would think after 3 years on this diet, the fine tuning would be over. Not so. Thanks for your help
