Guest guest
Hi! They are finally weaning my son off predisone. He is 9 and put on 30+ pounds. He is quite lethargic - depressed like -I assume its related to the weaning. Does anyone have tips? This week has been a pain. He has hallucinations from predisone and ringing in ears - Zithomax we believe....I am going to vent now: I am so damn sick of these meds and their side effects. The kid is 9 and has no neck! The kids call him FAT BOY...he woddles when he walks and now sees things coming out of walls and words coming out of books. My husband is good for nothing!!! HE just can't cope. He sits and sits and sits and I do not like it not one little bit!!!!!!!! Sorry for venting.........it does feel great since who else can I say these things to......thank you all for being there for me.. Rosemary in New York with three children with CF - they are 11, 9, 5....... I coined the phrase " BREATHE DAMMIT "
Guest guest
Rosemary---The first two times Ash was on Prednisone and she finished her round, she was like a bear to be around for a few days afterwards.....I got the first glimpses of what it will be like to be around her when she starts her period---YIKES!!!! This should pass in few days though. The last two times she has been on it it did not faze her to come off of it, so I don't know why it varies each time?!? As far as the ringing, I've heard of Tobi causing ringing but not Zithromax....I'm sorry I can't be too much help there. My husband works alot....so I try to do the majority of treatments, etc. BUT when I've had enough....I always ask him...and helps out but he doesn't help out unless I ask....what happens when you ask? Tell your husband to get off the couch and help you.....you have to have the help---you cannot be expected to do everything!!! Guest guest
Rosemary, Just an FYI. Zithromax does not usually have ear ringing as a side effect. Most antibiotics or drugs that are metabolized in the kidney also have hearing side effects but Zithromax is metabolized in the liver primarily. Hope this helps. p.s. I am a nurse and I use a nursing drug handbook for work and for my kids meds that I bought at and Nobles. You can buy nurse's drug books that tell you everything, Proper doses, side effects, drug interactions, etc. Everyone should own one. I tell my patients that all the time. Guest guest
Deb, I bought mine at and Nobles. You can get them at www.amazon.com too. Mine is called Saunders Nursing Drug Handbook 2001. There is a lot of medical terminology there too but if you have a friend who is a nurse or doctor or you want to email me I can explain the definitions. It's a great deal. they cost like 39.95. I can write mine off as a job expense so you can probably write yours off as a medical expense. I have actually caught a couple of mistakes that my local pharmacy made with Allie's scripts. My doctor wrote Prednisone 20mg po qd x 7days then wo. the pharmacy thought it was 7 days then stop. We all know you are supposed to wean off steroids and my drug book said that when I looked it up. I called the pharmacy and they noticed the error. It has been a lifesaver for my family and my patients. I love it and carry it to work and keep it on my desk at home. email me if you have any questions. 4Given5@... Re: PREDISONE DECREASE/Venting Where do you get these nursing books?
