Guest guest
Thanks , I have excel and did download the meal planner and it was like a foreign language to me! And, Kristan is mostly formula fed right now, so there's no point. Thanks for your help though. Satnam > > Hi everyone. Guest guest
I am wondering - since a couple of other mothers are having problems with babies and ketones, could it just be the formula isn't " right " for the diet? . kristansmommy skkahalma@...> wrote: Thanks , I have excel and did download the meal planner and it was like a foreign language to me! Guest guest
Ironically, I have started this 3 times, stopping to check on my daughter as she seizes. According to doctors, our daughter Hannah is the youngest to be on the keto diet. At almost 8 months old, Hannah has been on a version of the diet since birth (2.5:1 ratio @ 3 days old). Initially, the diet was due to an inability to effectively and safely metabolize carbs as well as infantile seizures. Since 7 months, she has been on a 4:1 ratio with a small (4.8:1) increase recently. She has yet to consistently spill large ketones. It is difficult with the babies because they need the carbs for their brains to grow, and babies utilize their fat so differently than our older kids. Hannah has been on 3 different formulas since birth, so chances are the doctors, nutritionist, etc. just don't know what they are doing with the little ones. We are in Atlanta, GA but have consulted doctors from all over the world. When I have questions, no one can answer them because " Hannah is so young and we just don't have a road map to work from... " What good is catching things early if they don't have the answers? Everyday, I see our window of opportunity getting smaller and smaller. We continue to plug along with it though, no matter what work is involved, even the slightest decrease in seizures makes it worth it. Prayers to all, Re: Re: To Satnam re: meal planner/ I am wondering - since a couple of other mothers are having problems with babies and ketones, could it just be the formula isn't " right " for the diet? . kristansmommy skkahalma@...> wrote: Thanks , I have excel and did download the meal planner and it was like a foreign language to me! Guest guest
Oh, , Tears came when I read this post. I will pray for you. It is a nightmare, I know. I truly do. Others don't, but those of us who have experienced it, know. Even harder, I am sure to see a beautiful little baby suffer so. I am so sorry. . Guest guest
Who knows, every kid is different, but the formula is Ketocal and it is especially made for the keto diet, has aspartame in it, that could the problem too, but if I can't get Kristan to eat solids, I have to do the formula. Guest guest
Hi , I hear you, we've been told the same thing, " Kristan is so young, sometimes the diet doesn't work in younger children. " Good luck with everything and I pray Hannah continues to get better. Satnam, mom to Kristan, 21 months Keto kid since August 2003 > > > Hi everyone. Guest guest
Hannah was on ketocal very briefly. he problem with ketocal is that you can't manipulate what kinds of oils you use. Depending on the chain, it will digest differently.Ketocal is nice and easy but with the RCF you can manipulate what kind of cars and fats you use. (ps..Hannah only does formula as well.) Re: To Satnam re: meal planner/ Who knows, every kid is different, but the formula is Ketocal and it is especially made for the keto diet, has aspartame in it, that could the problem too, but if I can't get Kristan to eat solids, I have to do the formula. Guest guest
Yes, you do not have options. Makes me wonder if it is the aspartame... At least you are very educated in the keto diet and if there comes a time when you think it is worth another try, you won't have any misconceptions of the successes and struggles. Seizures are terrible. I just hate them. I feel so helpless when is having them, and I know you do to. We would do anything, if we thought it would stop them. Going into this diet we were aware it worked well for some, and not so well for others. It is just so stinky sad when it isn't working, and that it is not working for your baby. Best to you and Kristan... & kristansmommy skkahalma@...> wrote: Who knows, every kid is different, but the formula is Ketocal and it is especially made for the keto diet, has aspartame in it, that could the problem too, but if I can't get Kristan to eat solids, I have to do the formula.
