Guest guest
Hi, I just got home from Wild Oats. What a confusing place. So many choices. So many variances in brands. Whew! Well, I am going to start the magnesium and wonder how much to give. Then the probiotics. Then maybe the digestive enzymes. is 45 pounds and 6 years old. They are 200 mg capsules. It says 1 capsule per day. Is that ok for a child?? Please let me know Thanks so much
Guest guest
With magnesium I have always been told to give it at bedtime, start with the minimum doseage and increase it until you get a softened stool, then cut back just a bit - and that will give you the proper dose for the individual. My son if 9 and weighs 63 pounds he takes 600 mg. at bedtime and another 200 in the morning. What probiotics are you going to use ? I like either Nature's Way Primdophilus Junior (refrigerated only) One capsule three times a day with meals or Primal defense 1/2 caplet Am meal and the other 1/2 PM meal. Guest guest
, Look at how much calcium you are giving and then give half the amount of magnesium. In other words, if you are giving 800mg of calcium then give 400mg of magnesium. This is a good maintenance dose for regular bowel movements. But, all kids are different. You can increase the magnesium to fit 's needs. You may need to give him equal amounts of calcium and magnesium or you may need to give him higher doses of magnesium to keep his bowels moving regular. If you find his bowel movements are too soft/watery then come down on the magnesium dose. should have a bowel movement every 1-3 days....preferably every day. Shan is age 9, 56lb, and she takes 600mg of magnesium a day. As for the probiotics I give her 1 capsule a day. Rhonda How much mag to give and probiotics Hi, I just got home from Wild Oats. Guest guest
1 capsule a day is a good start and you may have to go higher. Your child is on less than a starvation diet for minerals. lloydandleslie@... wrote: > Hi, > I just got home from Wild Oats. What a confusing place. So many choices. > So many variances in brands.
