Guest guest
In my ketogenic diet book, it says the most important thing is to keep him hydrated. Here's what it tells you to do: * give sugar-free, clear liquids freely, don't worry about restrictions *if vomitting lasts more than 24 hours, use unflavored pedialyte for up to 24 hours to maintain electrolytes * when vomiting stops, introduce 1/3 quantity eggnog meal (it is not necessary for child to finish if she/he doesn't want to). Increase as tolerated until child is eating full quantity, then resume regular meals * if using MCT oil, substitute with canola or corn oil until illness is resolved It also says you may see a breakthrough of seizures during illness, because it affects ketosis. Hopefully not, though! You may want to check with whoever's in charge of your son's nutrition, just to make sure this is OK. Good luck. Sorry Luke isn't feeling well! > Luke has caught a stomach bug from his sister. He has vomitted twice > this am. He kept his med down for 25 minutes, so I think that is > okay. But what about his meals? need help!! >
