Guest guest
We just got back from Hopkins last night and Broc is on his first week of the diet. I have a question regarding fruits and vegetables. Broc is (was) still eating baby foods. If we purchase vegetables and fruits that fit our menus is it ok to just use the baby food version as long as the only ingredients are the fruit or vegetable and water? My guess is yes but I want to be sure. Mike Bartenhagen mike@...> mike@... www.blackcows.com
Guest guest
Mike, if I were you, I would use the fresh vegetables, blend them up and freeze for later use, it is much cheaper this way, you know they are fresh, and you know exactly what is in it. Stella is 5, so we use fresh veggies, however, when she was a baby I made all her baby food. good luck with the diet -- -mom to Stella, 5years old, started keto diet May 10th 2004 still waiting to be seizure free. Also on Lamictal, epam and Diamox. Anisa is almost 10 and a happy healthy girl.
Guest guest
Hi Mike, Welcome to the website; I recognize you from the IS group. Good luck with the diet. Indigo has been on the diet now for 8 weeks, and although not seizure-free, has made some amazing developmental gains since starting. The weights for the baby foods are different than regular veggies because of the added water and other hidden ingredients. Our dietician went through special pains to contact the manufacturers of the babyfood to get details. We originally planned to use the canned babyfoods. However, we found that fresh veggies and plain meats meet our needs very well, and allow us to cut the foods to sizes that are appropriate to her growing feeding skills. We still haven't figured out how to be mobile, but we're working on it. If you want to call us, you are welcome, and maybe we can share some recipes and general experiences. We can also give you a template we use to keep track of all the ins and outs of supplements and menus. The key to success and acceptance of the diet is to have a very good dietician; ours actually does all of our calculations for us with exact incredients. Even though we don't have a lot of flexibility to add diet plans, we don't worry about whether we are implementing the diet right.
