Guest guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Yes, I had leg pain as a symptom, but also before going gf. It seemed all of my symptoms got worse shortly after starting gf. I'm guessing that the leg pain has nothing to do with what you ate. As everyone said to me in the beginning. Stay on the diet and give it time. Does Advil help? wrote: Hey everyone,My legs are killing me right now, and I don't know why. I've only been gluten-free for a few days, but I didn't startgetting leg pain until after I switched over. Has anyone experiencedthis? __________________________________________________ Quote
Guest guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Thanks for responding. I can't take Advil because it aggravates my stomach (though maybe another thing to test out once I start feeling better). I took Tylenol, and it took the edge off a bit, but I'm still pretty achey. How long did it take for you to start feeling better? I was only eating wheat bread for about two weeks before getting sick (ate white products my entire life) and getting tested, and I feel like I'm just as sick and sicker in some ways. I'm just not as hungry, feel nauseous throughout the day, etc. > Hey everyone, > > My legs are killing me right now, and I don't know why. Guest guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Sorry you're feeling worse. If by white products you mean white bread and crackers, they have as much gluten as "whole grain" products. It is probably coincidental that you were starting to feel sick a couple weeks before your test. Believe it or not the same thing happened to me. I never had stomach aches, but started to get a lumpy full achy feeling right under my ribs shortly after I'd start a meal that would last for a few hours. As a result I was not as hungry either. This pain began in the couple months between my bloodwork and my biopsy. Oddly enough, one thing I did to try to stop it is to go on a bland diet of "white" foods: banana, rice, plain pasta (durham wheat of course), white bread. It actually helped after a couple days, but naturally the pain came back. The stomach aches stopped within a week or two of being gf. The legs and fatigue went on for about three months. I also have an old mattress and discovered it was causing much of my pain. I now alternate nights between the floor and bed (strange to think how a person can be pain free waking up on the floor, but believe me when I say a middle aging person really needs a good supportive mattress) wrote: Thanks for responding.I can't take Advil because it aggravates my stomach (though maybeanother thing to test out once I start feeling better). Something that will help is to make sure you are taking in plenty of vitamins. I would suggest taking a multi vit + B12 + whatever other supplements your doctor says you need. Some folks also think probiotics and L-Glutamine (an amino acid that does NOT contain gluten) will help you heal faster. Also try to help keep your blood sugar stable by consuming protein with each meal - many GF foods are high glycemic/ rapidly digested and cause spikes in your blood sugar that can upset the way you feel. Protein will help keep your blood sugar from plummeting between meals (which can make some folk nauseated). Maureen Quote

Guest guest Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Your dinner appears to be GF. Maybe it was from something else? If it's anywhere near as hot where you are as here, that could be a factor? Or maybe something else is lacking in your diet right now and causing the cramps? leg pain Hey everyone,My legs are killing me right now, and I don't know why. Has anyone experienced> this?>Hello! and yes, lots of us have and for probably just as many different reasons. Detox is a biggie... Ive been GF for 6 mos now (but did have some glutamination when I lived in the states). I still have some problems,(no more joint/muscle pain, but healing stuff) and recently had to go lactose free as my pancreatic enzymes were throwing everything off. On the up side it does get better every day. Dont know yet if the no lactose will be a part of this for life, but Ive felt much better (even when I was feeling great) without it. Ive gotten my urine PH closer to normal and have no more problems with neuralgia.... Which brings me to my next question.Have you had any neuralgia that had been previously unexplained (or poo-poohed) by Drs? Some of us here had sensatory problems prior to GF. Mine got worse before better. Now, I have no more "false" sensations. If I hurt, dern it, there is a reason why. Keep your chin up, and remember it didnt take you 1 day to get sick, it doesnt go away in a day. BUT (and I can not stress this enough!) this is a FANTASTIC bunch of knowledgeable people, and if we dont know, try and find out, and ALWAYS have a supportive shoulder to cry on!Best!CassiGluten free in downtown Imatra! Guest guest Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Even if you were only eating " white " breads before you were still eating wheat, just bleached wheat flour as opposed to regular. If you have CD it will still cause the same dammage. When you 1st go GF you do get sicker before you get better. I have seen many on here refer to it as detoxing. Your body has to purge all the toxins before you feel better. Please do not give up, you will feel SO much better it just takes a little time. This is a great resource, everyone here knows just what you are going through and most are very friendly and helpful if you have questions. I personally never had the leg pain as a symptom so I can not offer any help there. > > Hey everyone, > > > > My legs are killing me right now, and I don't know why.
