Guest guest Posted February 17, 2003 Report Share Posted February 17, 2003 i'll preface this by saying that rowan LOVES the school library and his EA (educational assistant) uses this as a reward/incentive etc. for those of you who don't know, rowan six years old and a man of few words - especially spontaneous speach - he can answer questions quite easily but rarely speaks of his own volition unless it is to request food! eye contact is very difficult for rowan - can't seem to talk and look at the same time ala donna williams. the following story came home in rowan's communication book today.(written by debbie his EA) " Rowan wanted to do his work in the library today. I told him he had to wait until after the Mrs Day was finished the lesson. When she finished and the children were doing their work we went to the library. Rowan completed his work here very well and very quickly. After he finished he looked me straight in the eyes and said 'Thank you library'. I just about broke down and cried.
