Guest guest
-Hi Vicky My son also tends to get this white tongue- not so much now but in the past it was terrible. For us it was not thrush though as everyone first said- it was what is called geographic tongue and was related to food allergies. Mike is not on keto now but has severe food allergies which for a long time went indetected. His reaction to these foods- white tongue, foul smelling body and within 18-24 ours of ingesting the offending food he would start to seizure- for us he would have 4-5 days of seizures then they would stop. Over a period of a couple of years we were able to identify many foods that triggered this pattern- the biggest culprits were dairy, soy and gluten. Once we restricted these we saw many improvements and now only see this white tongue if he contacts a food that may have been cross contaminated with one of his allergens. BTW- none of these allergies showed up on traditional testing so it is more of a food sensntivity issue but none the less he has been on a very restricted diet for a couple of years now and while I occasionally do a food test he still gets the same reactions. This is just food for thought. Re the thrush issue- if it is thrush- a mild, natural way to treat it that may not interfere with the diet is to take a daily capsule of kyolic garlic- available at HFS. Works great.
