Broc will be starting the diet in August. Currently he drinks mostly milk

and also a little water and juice. What other drinks should we offer in the

next few weeks that will work on the diet? The person I spoke with at

Hopkins suggested America's Choice Diet drinks from Wal-Mart. We went there

over the weekend and saw Sam's Choice. Is this the same thing?

yeppers, same thing. The only bad thing about them is that they are sweetened

with aspratame which is a seizure trigger for some kids. Sam's choice is

basically juice flavored water that kids thik is soda because it fizzes. Another

good one to try is diet rite (sweetened with splenda and comes in some fun

flavors like tangerine) and diet hansen's (also sweetened with splenda and comes

in fun flavors) If you have it and yours likes chocolate, try canfields diet

chocolate soda. If you're looking for the non-fizzie variety, try sugar free

kool-aid or adding a touch of water and walden farms calorie free chocolate

syrup to cream for chocolate milk.

Hi Mike

It sounds like Broc and ph are starting the diet at same time !

We are scheduled on august too.How old is Broc?

ph had been drinking alot of juice in the past and I started to

introduce him new drinks a couple of months ago.We have tried diet

soda,mineral water,herbal decafinated tea,diet kool-aid and I have

found that the best choice for him is just spring water. He does not

mind drinking water and I am pretty happy with that and think it is

the best you can offer for the diet espesially if Broc is not old

enough to have preferences ( ph is 22 months). Our dietitian

sugested diet kool aid but I found it very disgusting, unnatural

colours( blue, purple, green for example),it also made ph more

hyper and he developed rash on his face as well.I can really suggest

much as we are not on the diet yet,but from what I've been reading

about epilepsy and neurotoxins it is better not to use artificial

colours and sweeteners, espesially asparatame( we use

stevia).Hopefully transition will be smooth for Broc.Good luck

Broc was born on 1/22/02 so he is just over 2. Where are you going to start

the diet?

Some other options on top of below are to try diluting heavy whipping

cream with water and maybe sweetening with Splenda, or flavoring with

Sugar Free Toriani (they use Splenda). Also water flavored with

Toriani works really well too. If you happen to be able to find a

low carb store some carry so many flavors it's unbelievable. Also

making flavored water into popsickles for this summer weather.
