Guest guest
Hi We're considering putting Izzie on the Atkins diet as we can't get the medical support needed to do the Keto diet. In preparation I've only offered her water to drink [she loves orange squash]. She's refusing to drink and I'm having to syringe water into her to stop her getting dehydrated. Are there any low carb drinks that she can have? She's having so many seizures at the moment, is on 3 AEDs [epilim, keppra and clobazam] so we're desperate to at least try Atkins until we can find a centre that can help us. Thanks Nicky
Guest guest
Nicky - she can still have orange squash - it just has to be the Tesco Value one or equivalent supermarket squashes, which are really low in carb (I think they show trace). Francesca loves Tesco Value blackcurrant and apple, but we use the lemon and the orange ones as well. The only potential problem is that they contain aspartame. Do you know whether this is a trigger for Izzie? Also you can get quite a few flavoured still and sparkling waters - read the labels carefully, but Tesco own brand still flavoured waters come in raspberry, cranberry, lemon and lime, apple, and grapefruit flavours. Emma uses Safeway ones, so could tell you about those. How old is she again? Would she like Diet Coke etc? All the diet drinks are zero carb. Good luck and keep fighting, Nicky - you'll get there in the end. Mum to Francesca, Keto Kid since Sept 03, drug free for 6 weeks... > Hi > > We're considering putting Izzie on the Atkins diet as we can't get > the medical support needed to do the Keto diet.
