Guest guest
You say you do not use Atkins products--- No we do not because most of them contain soy or other additives that are seizure triggers for . Do you count Carbs but just not weigh the food--?? The only carbs he gets are in his breakfast which is a slice of bread that is made with the 2:1 keto recipe for french toast or waffles. We use 1 slice of bread, dipp in it cream and egg and use the butter for syrup. Are you increasing the fats?? Yes. He eats butter with every meal. We melt it and he dips his meat and veggies in it. We also give him pudding which is cream and sug free choc pudding which does have some carbs in it but with the cream, he has never had any issues with it. We also make popsicles with sug free jello and cream. Do you count REGULAR carbs and not Net cabs?? We don't use the net carb products any more. We didn't have seizure control using the net carbs as an indicator. Are you limiting calories?? Protein?? No. He gets as much as he wants. However, he is in good ketosis so we do not need to worry about it because he has a small appetite. We have done this for about 2 years and we have found that we must be very precise with this. The problem is with the low carb stuff is that he gets " addicted " to it, it lowers his ketones etc. Godd luck!!
