Has his height growth been proportionate? If so, he may actually need a

cal increase, not decrease, to allow for his now bigger body mass.

If height growth not proportionate though, then yes, chances are he needs

a decrease.

Important to monitor both together though, weight alone can't really tell

you accurately what his cal needs are.
