Guest guest
I think I have got the siggy here is mine. (although I shall quietly protest being labeled by my stats right under my name every time I post) /Maine/12 190/162/140 09/14/01 , (gross alert) I am on BCPs also. I have messed up my cycle very much so!! I missed the first one and the second month was very bad with lots of clotting and cramps. Don't know if its the diet or not. I have started to lose some hair. And my teeth have started to bleed. Isn't this a side effect to malnutrition? I have also never really had normal bowel movements. Its very hard to find food high in fiber but no carb. Any ideas? Do you all take vitamins? I don't at all (Ya think I should with all the hair loss, no BMs and iron loss...duh!!!) Are you doing a weekly weigh in? When is it? I have been weighing in on Fridays so far. I am very happy with my weight loss. So thanks for all the positive feedback. Even though I do not follow the book and diet to the letter. (I swear I cant take the sugar subs with out gagging) I am determined I am a non smoker now. Someone warned me that I would gain all and more back when I eat normal again. I am on digest for now. So it takes awhile for me to catch up with all the posts. Hey to the girlie in Maine. I live in Newport. But spend most of my time in Dover where school is. Are we close? Thank you /Maine/12 190/162/140 09/14/
Guest guest
> I have started to lose some hair. And my teeth have started to bleed. Isn't > this a side effect to malnutrition? Hair loss seems to be common, but I don't think it has anything to do with malnutrition. Sure, you can take vitamins/supplements to help with it, but I'd almost be more willing to bet that it has something to do with the major change we're putting our bodies through when we so dramatically change our WOE. > I have also never really had normal bowel movements. Its very hard to find > food high in fiber but no carb. Any ideas? First of all, don't go crazy on cheese. (That'll stop you up quicker than anything else.) Make sure to get PLENTY of water, good fat, and fresh veggies! There is a reason that you're supposed to eat at least 2 cups of uncooked salad veggies each day. Now, when you've been doing this a while, sometimes you're better about it than other times, but it really IS important. You can also get a fiber supplement. I'd recommend something like the fibercon capsules. (That way, you don't have to drink some yucky drink, and you don't have to take handful after handful of psyllium capsules.) > Do you all take vitamins? I don't at all (Ya think I should with all the > hair loss, no BMs and iron loss...duh!!!) You're darned right you should be taking vitamins! At the VERY least, you should be taking a good multi. Then you can add other things that you think you might need for various reasons. It's pretty personal. You might want to use fitday to track your food, and then you can look at the reports and see where your diet is lacking. > I am very happy with my weight loss. So thanks for all the positive > feedback. Even though I do not follow the book and diet to the letter. (I > swear I cant take the sugar subs with out gagging) Sugar substitutes? What have you tried? I'm a " super-taster " so saccharin tastes terribly bitter to me. Aspartame has an aftertaste BIG TIME, but I've learned to deal with it. My sweetener of choice though, SPLENDA ALL THE WAY!!!! Now, I can taste the bitterness of the bulking agent in some cases, but... I've also used stevia, but it had kind of a licoricey aftertaste to it, and I HATE the taste of anise. > I am determined I am a non smoker now. > Someone warned me that I would gain all and more back when I eat normal > again. I can't speak from experience, so I donno. I DO know though that my Mom's been doing Atkins for a year now, and she STILL hasn't managed to stop smoking. She said she's ready to give it a try at the end of the year though 'cause she knew she could do it. (She said that following Atkins is harder than quitting smoking for her, so...) You're gonna have such great fun, ! -- in Indy (262.5)253.5/216/150 3/26/
Guest guest
, Are you eating broccoli? Try it for the vitamin C content as well as being a good veggie. I need at least 2000 mgs of Vitamin c to stay regular. But then I'm taking iron for anemia, as well. The vitamin C is needed for your gums. Also, be careful of thinking that you will go back to eating normally. This life will become normal for you and as you follow it you won't regain the weight as you would when you yo-yo on diets. Guest guest
if your gums are bleeding you need vit C with citrus biflavanoids.. you need to be taking vitamins on this diet or yes you will get deficient because you are not eating fruit.. this is very important catherine
Guest guest
, I think you misunderstood me. I have not been smoking since June 4th. My birthday. I actually quit for my mother as a gift to her on my birthday. I really love the recipes. Is there a place to find them online? I have a few books. But getting feedback on them first is so much better. I had seen the one for the mock potatoes but don't think I would have dared with out the praise. But I actually ate mashed potatoes last week and they tasted like paste. I don't miss them as much now. But mostly I make a regular meal for my family and leave out the starch and carbs for me. I have been eating some fruit but mostly veggies. I do find it helps for me to eat a banana every few days. I think I need the potassium boost. I will have to start taking a multi vit ASAP. in Maine Mom to 3, HFA Dale 13 NT AOL IM: wildflow30 Yahoo: wildflow30 Autism a part of our world not a world apart. My birthday. > I actually quit for my mother as a gift to her on my birthday. Perhaps I should have been more clear. I did understand that you'd quit smoking. I was trying to say that I was very proud of you for being able to not only quit smoking but also do Atkins. Those are two major life changes to do at the same time. Some people can't handle doing both. > I really love the recipes. > Is there a place to find them online? > I have a few books. But getting feedback on them first is so much better. I > had seen the one for the mock potatoes but don't think I would have dared > with out the praise. But I actually ate mashed potatoes last week and they > tasted like paste. I don't miss them as much now. There are several great places online to find recipes, and good ones always turn up on the list too. I'll have to get back to you with some links (unless someone beats me to it). When I make the cauli-potatoes, most people will eat those OVER mashed potatoes, even if they're not doing LC. > But mostly I make a regular meal for my family and leave out the starch and > carbs for me. That's the easiest (and cheapest) way to do it. That's how I do it. > I have been eating some fruit but mostly veggies. > I do find it helps for me to eat a banana every few days. I think I need the > potassium boost. Please, please, please stay away from bananas!!!!!! There are a LOT of low-carb foods out there that have a lot more potassium in them than bananas, and that fructose will REALLY give you problems. If you decide you want fruit, the best fruits to have are blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and sometimes cantelope. Apples, pears, peaches, citrus & tropical fruits are VERY bad ideas. They're FULL of sugar! I saved a message once that listed foods rich in potassium. I'll find it and forward it. And if you can't find anything on there that you like, supplement. Potassium is cheap, and it's easy to take. If you're feeling like you need potassium, you might also not be drinking enough water. > I will have to start taking a multi vit ASAP. Absolutely! I think that'll help how you feel! Good luck, hon! -- in Indy (262.5)253.5/216/150 3/26/
Guest guest
No need to have your weight in your signature line if you don't want to . It's a totally optional thing :-) Kirstie who generally just uses the space to make smart ass remarks ;-) << I think I have got the siggy here is mine.
