Guest guest
Im sorry to hear you are havving such a rough time at the moment and not sure i can be of any help other than to let you know you are not alone and to hang in there. i have not been on any pill for many years as my partner has had the snip and im the oposite when i have my period i can garantee pain free days. im not sure but calendula cream is good and as it is a barrier cream, it could help stop the blood touching ur skin to much or lidocaine you can get with prescription, but not sure if these will be any good with such a heavey flow. i know when im really at my worst applying a cold pack right up above or on my clit really helps. i hope you start to feel better soon. > > It's " that " time of the month again and it is once again causing me > severe pain. Guest guest
Because I was having so much pain at that time as well, my doc put me on a continuous cycle of pills - I take the 3 weeks of pills but not the 4th week, so I don't get a period, haven't had one in years. Its great for me. My doctor assured me there is no medical reason I have to have a period every month. Just thought I would share my experience. Subject: PLease any suggestions??To: VulvarDisorders Date: Wednesday, December 31, 2008, 2:24 AM It's "that" time of the month again and it is once again causing me severe pain. From the clitoris to the rest of the vulva is prickly burning. I have a very heavy cycle now and I can't use tampons so I have to use pads. Both paper pads and toilet paper irritate my skin badly. I did, this month, off ebay, buy a couple of cloth pads to try but the very first one I tried I soaked through to my underwear in short time. So I'm back to the pain invoking paper pads. The blood also has always been irritating to my skin. I don't know what to do to get some relief. Maybe there are cloth pads that have better protection and don't leak through? Maybe I need to consider some measure to reduce or stop my period. I just don't know.I have a script still for yasmin but I don't want to have a drier vulva and more pain during the month. I talked to the last Dr. about ablation but he wants me to try the pill first. And yet tonight I am seriously considering a hysterectomy to stop this all together. Guest guest
I really sympathize with you as I know what it is to have heavy, blood seeping soaking periods and pain with it. That was before this ordeal tho so I dont have your experience. What works for my PAIN of the vulva is TRAMADOL. It takes the edge off. How about asking your kindest doctor for a script to get you thru this time. When I needed it, my doctor who said she did not treat Vulvodynia with Tramadol, did give me a script to get me thru a flare. Then I went to my medical doctor and got one which I use sparingly. at the end of January when I see Dr. Factor at UT Southwestern I am going to tell him I would like to end Lyrica and go on TRAMADOL. Actually, I really am at that point! Can you tolerate say ten minures of a bag of frozen peas on the area that hurts most? That used to help me. I would lay down and put my feet up on the back of the couch and put the peas there. RELIEF..for a few minutes. How about a cuppa tea to soothe your soul and pet your favorite furkid if you have one? This too shall pass. This too shall pass. This too shall pass. Yes I am a big one on positive self talk, positive affirmation, speaking the Word of God and renewing my mind. I hope any or possible all of this is a help to you. Hold on..it does get better. Use your good attitude, your good doctors, your good faith in God. All of those things got me to where I am. Love, ML When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future. http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/ -----Original Message----- From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ]On Behalf Of her70cuda It's " that " time of the month again and it is once again causing me severe pain. Guest guest
Thats a good question - I have been in pain for so long (and not always on the pill) that I really don't know if it made my condition worse. I am happy not to have my period and symptons along with it anymore. As far as the dryness and pain - I have just started Thomsons Calendula cream w/ a tiny bit of estrace (estrogen cream) and it has helped alot - I have only been doing it a week now. Its been great so far. I have to tell you - I am a new member to this group (not knowing it existed before) and it is so great to talk to other people about this. I truly felt alone. There have been so many nights I've lied in my bed and secretly ask God to take me in my sleep. That was where I was at one point. I have decided this is the year I am going to get better! Guest guest
Hi: My daughter started having problems with her period like you describe at 14. She would come home from school and sit in the tub to stop the burning and irritation. She switched to Natracare Pads which are 100% cotton. She did go on the pill, Nordette. It helped with her cramps and the heavy bleeding. She used Crisco (the white stuff) as a barrier against the blood irritation. She had no additional vulvodynia problems from the pill. She was diagnosed at 15 with Crohns Disease which was the cause of all of her vaginal burning. She is almost 20, still on the pill and many meds for Crohn's. Guest guest
Thank you Sherri for that information. I'll check into those pads, everything I use seems to cause pain any more. I hope she's doing much better now. > > > Hi: > > My daughter started having problems with her period like you describe at 14. Guest guest
Every step foreward I got this month has been totally backpedaled. This feels so much like a chemical burn, it's hard to just walk. I can't stand anything touching again which doesn't work with a period. I can't even wear the pads I can feel it burning my skin and I'm way too sore now that when I tried the bulky cloth pads it hurt too much too. Last night I just had to take it all off and sleep on towels. LOL can't be up in the day that way though. Once I get this monthly thing under control I have hope I might see some ongoing improvement because this is what keeps setting it back the most. I'm going to see if I can find some better cloth pads. I need them with a waterproof liner and less bulky if possible. Thanks for all the input! If it weren't for all my internet sisters I'd have no one but Dr.s thinking I was crazy. > > It's " that " time of the month again and it is once again causing me > severe pain. Guest guest
Help! The inner labia is swollen to at least twice the normal size and the dry, itchy burning won't stop. This bad a reaction is new (this much swelling) and I don't understand why it's happening. I used the same store bought pads and then I tried the cloth mini pad again yesterday morning (I had washed it in free soap and rinsed very well before wearing). This is horrible and scary. I had hoped it would feel better after all night with nothing on it but it's not.
Guest guest
My physical therapist initially suggested cotton pads at my first session in October, which I couldn't find until yesterday at a Whole Foods store. I had been using 7th generation pads which don't have chemicals in them that normal pads do. > > It's " that " time of the month again and it is once again causing me > severe pain. Guest guest
I wonder if you soak in an epsom salt bath, if that would help the inflammation and swelling. I have never had swelling in that area, so I really don't know what to tell you. Antihistamines could help with the pain, too. This might be something you would want to get checked out! So sorry! Guest guest
Between now and next period I'll be hunting for some pads that hopefully won't irritate me. Let me know how those do for you if you can. R > > > > It's " that " time of the month again and it is once again causing me > > severe pain. Guest guest
I have gotten most of the swelling down for now. I took a magnesium supplement, used emu oil and took ibuprophen and kept everything off it as long as I could. Today we had to go shopping and it was getting pretty sore from walking and it's sore tonight but I'm greatful it's not so swollen at least. It seemed like this was an allergic reacton which I've never had before. I'm not sure who I'd even have check it out and now that the swelling is down they wouldn't have a clue. > Help! Guest guest
I am sorry to hear you feel so crummy. I use 7th Generation pads. Naturacare are OK too, but I feel like they fall apart sometimes. If you can't find them in a store you can get them on drugstore.com. I also use washable microfiber pads. They're really soft. I got them from a natural parenting store (www.jilliansdrawers.com). My son uses cloth diapers, so I just toss them in the wash with those. I use 's Naturally detergent because we both have sensitive skin. I hope you find something that works for you!
