Well, Caroline, I out did you :-( I managed to gain .5! I was good except for...I forgot and ordered chicken wings, they were lightly breaded and I accidentally automatically grabbed a carrot stick! Other than those two things the only thing different I did was to eat cobb salads at work. Big mystery here!

Well, considering that its TOM and I've spent four days wanting to eat

everything that wasn't nailed down - didn't eat anything illegal just

REALLY wanted to -this isn't so bad - I'm down 1 lb. to 172.

Thanks! I am trying. I also exercise 3 or 4 times a week. This is

the first time I have tried to lose weight and not cheated or eaten

anything illegal. I am so excited to find this WOL.

Thankfully my week of induction has worked, and my 4lb gain over Halloween

has gone plus a couple more!! Down to 291 today.....horray!!!!!

Bev, I have the same problem with ANY kind of flour... nut flours OR any

bake mix containing ANY kind of flour. I automatically gain the next day. So

when it comes to making any of the impossible pies, I make sure I *don't* do

it close to " weigh in " time ;-) LoL

well, my scale has moved one-half pound back and forth all week... i

finally got my new atkins book in the mail last night so i'll be reading

that again cover to cover today-- flylady will have to wait!

i do have a question though... i have a brand new bottle of bayer ketostix,

and my readings have been in the small to lower-high range (mostly moderate

to lower-high). last night i had a lapse when i took my son to mcdonalds...

i ate a hamburger, ff with catsup and a regular soda (ds got it for me and i

was too lazy to take it back for a sf refill), and today i'm still in the

lower high range... is this because i ate it all within an hour? i'm

feeling like my ketostix are defective lol...

it feels so strange to have such good readings and not be getting anywhere

weight-wise... stupid question, but shouldn't i be losing weight

automatically if i'm burning ketones? have i forgotten something critical

here?

well the good news is that dh is actually reading health revolution

voluntarily (!), thinks it's a great book, told me he's jealous of all the

yummy things i get to eat, and has committed to trying atkins again, and

*then* my daughter fell in love with the pepperoni chips, told me she's

noticed she's gaining more weight and wants to go on atkins too-- when i

told this to dh he said " it'll be easier for you if we're doing it too,

won't it? " by jove, i think they've got it!!!

It could be dietary fat... fat in your diet... fat in the food that you're

eating... vs. stored/body fat... that is causing your ketostix to turn. If I

recall correctly it's the ketones present in the urine, as a result of

burning fat, that causes the ketostix to turn color. It doesn't necessarily

have to do with burning stored/body fat. At least that's my recollection.

I am still at 261.. It is so sad when I went crazy on 9/11 and started eating everything I gained back up to 271 from 255.. since going back on induction on the 1st of Nov. I have lost 10 lbs and still need to loose 6 to get back to where I was.. but hay!!!!!!! I have not cheated since I started back and that is a big deal with me... even last night when I made buttermilk cornbread and chicken and dumplings for my husbands friend.
