Guest guest
Hi Sue, thanx for alerting us to this...I don't see any testing on their website or any kind of trials...they're just assuming the glutathione gets taken up because of the properties of liposomes. But who knows? I guess if there were some reports from doctors, even if that were subjective, it might be useful.

Hi Jill, I'll be on the lookout for people who are trying it. Maybe that's our best bet. It's expensive--I think about $90 for a month's supply. Guest guest
Sue, Jill and the group, I hadn't heard about LipoCeutical Glutathione before your post, Sue, so I can't comment on its effectiveness. I do know that liposomes have been a big deal in drug delivery for the past decade or so, and that they are an effective way to help the absorption of various drugs. I'll be interested to hear how people respond to it. Thanks for posting about it. Also, Sue, I'm really glad that you are continuing the major job of collecting and organizing the results people are having from the Marshall protocol. The fact that you are independent of those promoting this protocol will give your eventual report a lot of credibility, and I know that many people will be interested in finding out what you come up with, including myself. Thank you on behalf of myself, and I think I can speak for a lot of others, too. Guest guest
Hi Rich, I've been searching what you have written for a mention of lipoceutical GSH and have turned up anything. Do you have an opinion on it? I'm re-posting below a post I wrote in October that I think you didn't reply to--or at least I couldn't find a reply. Best, Sue , Upstate New York Message: 12 Date: Fri, 08 Oct 2004 14:07:06 -0400 From: Ron <rhbailey@...> Subject: LipoCeutical Glutathione Hi Rich, I've been so involved (hours per day) in trying to sort out people's experiences on the Marshall Protocol that I've abandoned (temporarily) my favorite list--the experimental list. So I've not been keeping up with you and don't know if you'll have time to answer this right now. I'm posting it on the experimental list and also sending you this e-mail to alert you to it. I'll be embarrassed if it's something you've all been discussing, but don't think your reply should be wasted on just one person. So...what do you know about Wellness Pharmacy's new product--LipoCeutical Glutathione. A doctor has asked me to get studies supporting this specific product--not supporting GSH in general. I called the company and they say that studies are underway, but not finished. >From the bit I've copied below, can you speculate about the effectiveness of this as compared to, say, IV or nasal spray or undenatured whey protein or some of the other less-than-perfect precursor delivery systems? Is it a scam? I'll keep checking to see if you answer me on the list. Best, Sue , Upstate New York ========================== I'm copying this from a sheet that arrived in the mail with our last shipment of IV GSH: ....While clinical evidence suggests that raising the cell level of glutathione with intravenous infusions may be beneficial, achieving this goal with oral glutathione has previously not been possible. Oral administration of glutathione by itself does not achieve either clinical results or systemic elevation of glutathione. For example, it has been demonstrated in a clinical study that 3 grams of plain glutathione delivered by oral ingestion does not elevate plasma glutathione levels. LipoCeutical Glutathione (trademark)--a liposomal glutathione supplement--is a unique product designed to facilitate glutathione availability by oral ingestion and rapidly increase systemic bioavailability of glutathione. A liposome is a microscopic fluid filled pouch whose walls are made of one or more layers of materials derived from lecithin that are identical to the phospholipid that make up cell membranes. The outer wall of the liposome is fat soluble, while the inside is water-soluble. This combination allows the liposome to be readily absorbed allowing the systemic availability of water-soluble materials that would otherwise not be absorbed into the body. LipoCeutical Glutathione maintains the glutathione in the reduced state and the product has a shelf life of 2 years... Guest guest
Trying to figure out what is the difference between Lipoceutical Glutathione and Glutathione? From searching I found this ... LipoCeutical GlutathioneTM. A liposome is a microscopic, fluid-filled pouch—which in this case contains Glutathione -- is this just a brand name? Is one better than the other? > But oh no I just read......... > > " It is well documented that glutathione sold as a dietary supplement is > mostly destroyed during digestion and therefore is of little use. Guest guest
Hi, Normal Oral glutathione is destroyied during digestion and not usefull. The lipoceutical supposedly is [somewhat] like an enteric coated substance and very small in size so it supposedly does not get distroyed during digestion and can be utilized when it gets to the gi tract intact. The web site has a better description. It is supposedly a new technique and brand. Whether it gets absorbed or not I do not know. Guest guest
Great information, Rich, really great. I have also talked with Angie and she is terrific. My problem with the lipoceutical is its made with glycerin, so even though I have some I havne't tried it as glycerin really bothers me. People with chronic illness may be sensitive to it also I don't know. I have the nasal glutathione. I felt it was really working and helping. Dr. Horowitz gives it to lymies in addition to IV. But I have been meaning to call ANgie and ask to send it back and have them analyze it, or if I can analyze it here, to see if it oxidizes. Normally I get glutathione in little vials, and they are sealed until used. And even so over a period of months they oxidize. The nasal glutathione is in a plastic container and even though I keep it in the fridge in the dark, it is about half full now and I can't see how it wouldn't oxidize. Glutathione is vulnerable. So I don't want to be using oxidized glutathione. If they analyze it and show that it is still good I'll be pleased. I think it may be a bit cheaper than the oral. In addition, not everybody needs 1200 mg a day (ie $50 for 4 days, my goodness! Too pricey!). I get 1000 mg in my IV and I feel it is helpful. Maybe less mg a day will work for chronic illness. Guest guest
Hi, Jill. Thanks for your comments. Sorry to hear that the glycerin bothers you. Yes, it's true that glutathione is vulnerable to oxidation. The Wellness people claim that the Lipoceutical Glutathione will last two years without refrigeration, even after the bottle is opened. Supposedly, the phospholipid microcapsules do a good job of protecting the reduced glutathione from chemical degradation. Yes, the cost is a big issue. Competition may develop over time, and bring the price down. Concerning dosage, I think it might depend on the goal. If maintenance is the goal, a lower dosage would probably help to improve the quality of life. If climbing out of a vicious circle and getting the liver back up to full production of glutathione is the goal, it might take more. I wish I had a better knowledge of the whole normal glutathione system in the body, including normal production rates by the liver, and normal consumption rates by the various organs. Then how about the increased demands for glutathione presented by toxins and infections and physical exercise, etc. I discussed this with Dr. Tim Guilford, and he was wishing along the same lines... Guest guest
Hi Rich, I posted some questions and comments to you already at the cfs research group but I " d like to do the same here. You said that the company microencapsulates the reduced glutathione with soy lecethin. Couldn't we mix reduced glutathione and soy lecithin together and it have the same affect? OR possibly mix it with other beneficial oils? Am I being to simple here? It's the liposomes that are helping to carry the glutathione passed the gut into liver? As far as trials go..........the trial should be whether or not the product raises glutathione levels. This is the objective. Thanks for all the info. Guest guest
Hi, Tammy. I'll copy the response I sent you on the Research list: Hi, Tammy. Thanks for the response. You're welcome for the information. Unfortunately, I don't think it would work to simply mix reduced glutathione with soy lecithin or to take it with other oils. I think it must be trickier than that to get the glutathione to go inside phospholipid microcapsules. The process is proprietary, and I don't know how they do it, but I think there are some subtleties involved. Thanks for relating your experience with the Spectracell test. I agree that testing to see if glutathione goes up is an important measure. It's really hard to know what's happening without some objective lab tests. I hope such testing is done. Of course, testing isn't cheap, and somebody has to pay for it. Guest guest
I just want to give a quick reminder to those on glutathione powders/undenatured whey...You should take it with room temperature distilled water so that the undenatured part of the whey doesn't change it's chemistry and thus become less effective. I read this, I think, on the research article by Dr. Cheney and glutathione depletion. Guest guest
Hi Bob I took lipoceutical glutathione until 2 weeks ago when I started herxing badly. Since I have $266 worth here unused, I figured I'd wait until the herx disappears, and start again. I already took $400 worth, before the herx, with no positive effect. Guest guest
Helen, I tried to find the source I read that from, but I do so much research that I just can't remember where I came across it. I did read on my ImmunePro jar that it should be taken with liquids at room temperature and no juices since it can affect the denaturation. Sorry I couldn't be more precise. Hope this helps! I did this night before last and yesterday I had about 6-8 bowels movements. The last three where very rank and I must have been getting rid of toxins. Whether these were from using the lipo GSH I do not know but I think it is important that while we are using anything like this to make sure we are having several bowel movements a day. I felt horrible last night until the last three BM's and then my nose dried up and I started feeling better. Bob
Guest guest
I was at the health food store and bought some reduced glutathione~is this the same as the lipoceutical? Mine are 250 mg capsules (there were 500 mg). I also bought some Gotien to try~please remind me of what the benefits of both of these are? I am a 52-year-old Caucasian female (the typical pattern for this) with CFS/FMS. I had a mild concussion when a young girl (was always napping before that, though), had several episodes of Epstein-Barr Virus, several food allergies (wheat is the worst) that I am now paying very close attention to, went through the Dr. Dantini protocol in 2003 of food allergy rotation diet and antiviral meds (Valtrex) for the EBV, parvo and herpes viruses. After six months the brain fog was gone and I felt more energetic than in years. I still have loads of stress in my life which have diminished more in past months (we lost 7 family members in 4 years and sorted, purged and moved three households of theirs during that time), went through menopause, have a 17-year-old son who was fractious during the last few years but now doing better, plus trying to work part-time to afford the supplements to get better. I've been taking Recuperation for 3 months and I have more energy, sleep less, wake earlier in the day most of the time, need shorter naps and sleep more deeply, so it's doing something good. My main problem is still pain~since they took Vioxx off the market. Vicodin works when I need muscle relaxation but I try to limit it. Just had dental work done and felt lousy afterwards~my bite must be still off and need to go back. The new dentist who took over the practice spent so much time on his laptop computer measuring the crown so you don't have to come back that I felt like my teeth were neglected so may try someone else. Never thought about all the mercury fillings but I have tons in my mouth which are actually being replaced (maybe I'm having issues with the removal, too). in La Selva Beach CA Re: lipoceutical glutathione Dawn: I really appreciate this. Guest guest
I think having merc removed is huge. I had 7 crowns about 22 yrs ago and all that merc in those teeth was just drilled out and 'let fly' back in those days. No wonder my brains are fried! This is definitely something I need to be dealing with. Marcia Re: lipoceutical glutathione Dawn: I really appreciate this. The taste bothered me so I used rice milk. Guest guest
hi. Goatien is non bovine dairy substance similar to ImmunePro, not sure how much glutathione precursor it provides but I'm hoping some. My admittedly limited knowledge is that reduced glutathione maybe can't be absorbed. Lipoceutical is expensive stuff from one company only. You know how to use the search engine in this group at the home site? Put in lipoceutical glutathione and read Rich's posts, they are very informative.
